John Lapus' Sweet @ 18

John Lapus is working on a feverish pitch. The actor-TV host-comedian is busy preparing for his anniversary show titled Sweet@18, the Universal Sweet Anniversary Show to be held tomorrow night, May 14 at the Music Museum. Show starts at 8 p.m.

His special guests are Dennis Trillo, Julie Anne San Jose and Vice Ganda. The show is directed by Phillip Lazaro and is written by Ms. Ador, Gie Salonga, and Edwin Serrano.

Sweet is presenting a new character in his show- she is a Hermana Mator in a town that is about to celebrate its town fiesta. “She’s a mix of Imelda Marcos and Madame Auring. It’s a sketch,” says Sweet.

He is also bringing back his favorite character Kris Anino. This is a spoof of his good friend Kris Aquino, tagged as the Multi-Media Queen.

“I didn’t do a Kris Anino when I did my show (Sweet 16) two years ago. A lot of people missed her and requested to have her back. So she’s coming back. Mas taklesa at mas nakakaloka. She will talk about her busy schedule and how she uses the products that she endorses,” says the two-time Aliw Awardee for Best Stand-up Comic.

In his opening monologue, Sweet will talk about his struggles, adventures and victory in the past 18 years of his showbiz career. “Na-realize ko nga, for the past 18 years nagtatrabaho ako sa isang showbiz-oriented talkshow. Masaya mag-work sa isang showbiz talk show kahit magulo. From researcher naging head researcher tapos Segment Producer. Then chiwariwap tapos cohost. Ngayon main host na ako ng Showbiz Central. Hindi ako tatagal ng 18 years kung hindi ako nag-e-enjoy,” shares the Best Actor (Comedy) of Golden Screen Awards for Here Comes the Bride.

Of course, he will have his “buwis-buhay” dance which he usually does in his Don’t Lie to Me segment in Showbiz Central. It is Sweet’s idea to incorporate dance steps and circus to his dance number to make it more entertaining.

Sweet is currently finishing the remake of Temptation Island for Regal Entertainment and GMA Films. He’s also set to resume work for his indie film “Becky” and the part 2 of Here Comes The Bride. “After magpelikula tatanggap na ako ng soap. Nami-miss ko na mag-soap. Kailangan ko ang soap pangbayad sa bago kong bahay, hahaha,” he says.

Ang Sweet@18, The Universal Sweet Anniversary Show is sponsored by GMA, Calayan Surgicenter, Junnes and Grand Villa Resort, APT Entertaiment and Bench. Minor sponsors are Hairwatch Salon, Kulay Express Printing, Cleo’s Flowershop, RFM, Noel Abelardo Photography at Zayra Carreon Editing House.
