Iza replaces rumored pregnant Regine in "I heart you pare"

CEBU, Philippines - Actress Iza Calzado said she is honored that Regine Velasquez chose her as the latter’s replacement in GMA-7’s hit primetime series, “I Heart You Pare.”

“Yes, I will be replacing Ate Regine in I Heart You Pare. So honored and grateful to Ate Reg for choosing me :) I start taping this Saturday,” the actress posted on her Twitter account on April 7.

According to a statement released by GMA Entertainment TV, the “Asia’s Songbird,” who plays a woman on the run who is posing as a drag queen, has to quit the TV series upon the advice of her doctor to take a rest following the “severe migraine attacks” she has suffered recently.

 “Pinasiyahan ng Network na ibigay kay Regine ang nararapat na pahinga para sa kanyang agarang paggaling,” read a part of the statement.

The Kapuso network also said in the statement that it believes Iza is worthy to replace Regine. She will take over the role beginning Monday, April 11.

The statement, however, did not address the rumors that Regine, 41, is expecting her first child with husband, singer Ogie Alcasid. (FREEMAN)
