From movies, to teleseryes to sitcoms, the award-winning actress-comedienne Eugene Domingo gets her own game show in “Lucky Numbers” which premieres on Feb. 27 on TV5.
Eugene expressed her gratitude for being chosen to host this Sunday variety game show which seeks to become an alternative viewing fare in a slot dominated by variety shows.
“I feel lucky to have been offered this kind of show on a Sunday afternoon. It’s the best option on a Sunday afternoon. Maganda ang ginawa ng Kapatid Network na ipinuwesto nila ‘Lucky Numbers’ after ng show ni Joey de Leon who is my idol. Then after ‘Lucky Numbers,’ yung show naman ng mga bagets,” said Eugene.
Uge will have a co-host, but her identity is yet to be revealed although she was described as very talented and very familiar to the viewing public.
In the portion “Big Money Challenge,” Uge will be joined by 10 hunky guys who will bring the briefcases containing various amounts of money and the dreaded X marks. “Meron tayong sampu na tatawagin nating L-boys, lucky boys, ha? Ang mga L-boys ang magbibigay sa atin—sa ating siguro—ng pampagana,” said Uge.
This is the first time that Uge will try to host a game show but she doesn’t see herself as competition to Ms. Kris Aquino who has done many game shows on TV. Besides, “Lucky Numbers” airs on a different time slot.
“I know that the people would surely compare me with Ms. Kris. It can’t be helped that I will be compared to her. Competition is one thing that makes our industry exciting. But with all due respect to Ms. Kris, she has done many game shows, shows that became popular because of her and I admire her. We are just offering something new and different. But it never crossed my mind that I am competing with Ms. Kris,” explained Uge.
The actress-comedienne said she’d rather compete with herself. She always tells herself if she’d be able to withstand a challenge to her capability. “I always admire those who had come before me or those who are more senior to me or more experienced. With this new show, we are offering an alternative viewing fare. Sana panoorin din nila kami,” said Uge.
