Direk Wenn hopes for a box-office win

Sharon Cuneta launched “Celebrations by Sharon” in a home fair at the SM Malls. This is Sharon’s own brand of cookware, bakeware, culinary herbs and kitchen appliances that were presented to the public at the The Block of SM City North EDSA last Dec. 4.

Sharon said it’s been a long plan of hers to come out with her own line of products for the kitchen. Whenever she goes to department stores, she always makes it a point to visit the home ware section. “I like to look at the items that are used in cooking and baking,” said the Megastar.

Sharon is happy to have tied up with SM in this venture of hers. She had been toying with the idea for 12 years now. “But we don’t want to come out with it abruptly. We wanted to make sure we have a good supplier whose raw materials are really good. Since I am putting my name on the product, then it really has to be good,” said the Megastar.

Sharon also disclosed that she’s also putting up a quaint restaurant at a new place where Fanny Serrano is transferring his new salon. She will be serving her baked goodies there like carrot cake and cookies. She said she has a secret recipe for all her cookies and cakes.

Director Wenn Deramas was already named box-office director of the comedy caper “Ang Tanging Ina,” which starred comedy concert queen Ms. Ai Ai delas Alas, by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Awards. But Direk Wenn doesn’t hide the fact that he wants to win again as box-office director.

With Star Cinema fielding “Ang Tanging Ina (Last Na ‘To)” to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival that reels off on Christmas Day, Direk Wenn is wishing that he wins again the plum.

“Kaplastikan naman kung sasabihin ko na ayaw kong mahirang na box-office director. Sana ibigay nia ito sa akin. Pero sana muna ay kumita ang latest movie namin na ito nina Ai Ai at Eugene," said the director.

Aside from hoping to be named as box-office director, Direk Wenn is also hoping that Ai Ai will walk home with the best actress award. “It’s only Ai Ai who can come up with an innovative way of making people laugh,” said the director.
