CEBU, Philippines - The multi-awarded University of the Visayas Chorale will have its first concert of the year via “September Sonata” this Sept. 5, 2010, 7 pm, at the Halad Museum of Dr. Jose R. Gullas along V. Gullas St.
An intimate evening of music, the concert will present a re-energized choral group with its brand-new members and repertoire, both in pop and classical. The UV Chorale, which is conducted by award-winning choirmaster Anna Piquero, formerly of the Philippine Madrigal Singers, has amassed a string of awards here and abroad.
Last year, the choir bested groups all over the country in topping the national choir competitions of Manila Broadcasting Company and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. It also emerged as gold champion in the Tomohon International Choir Competition in Indonesia.
In February of this year, the UV Chorale joined the roster of recipients of the prestigious Ani Ng Dangal awards given by Malacañang, through its National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), to recognize artists who brought international honor to the country.
