Multi-awarded writer holds lecture on copyrights

CEBU, Philippines - Musicians, writers, and visual artists are invited to attend a lecture on how to safeguard their reprographic rights.

Poet/playwright Vim Nadera and Alvin Buenaventura of Filipinas Copyright Licensing Society, Inc.(FILCOLS ) will hold a free seminar on Intellectual Property Rights in Turtle's Nest Book Cafe tomorrow, August 21, 2010. Registration starts at 9:00 am.

FILCOLS advocates reproduction rights among artistic, literary, dramatic, scientific, and educational institutions in the country. According to the World Intellectual Property Organization, copyright-based industries contribute 4.82% to our annual GDP. "Copyright employs people, " says Buenaventura. At present, Nadera is the Director of the UP Institute of Creative Writing. He is a prolific author, editor, critic, and translator. He has a column in a national daily.
