Multi-awarded writer holds lecture on copyrights

CEBU, Philippines - Musicians, writers, and visual artists are invited to attend a lecture on how to safeguard their reprographic rights.

Poet/playwright Vim Nadera and Alvin Buenaventura of Filipinas Copyright Licensing Society, Inc.(FILCOLS ) will hold a free seminar on Intellectual Property Rights in Turtle's Nest Book Cafe tomorrow, August 21, 2010. Registration starts at 9:00 am.

FILCOLS advocates reproduction rights among artistic, literary, dramatic, scientific, and educational institutions in the country. According to the World Intellectual Property Organization, copyright-based industries contribute 4.82% to our annual GDP. "Copyright employs people, " says Buenaventura. "Thus, we should protect and promote this industry." Learn more how authors, musicians, and visual artists can safeguard their reprographic rights and what FILCOLS is doing to help them.

At present, Nadera is the Director of the UP Institute of Creative Writing. He is a prolific author, editor, critic, and translator. He has a column in a national daily.
