- Maria Eleanor E. Valeros -

CEBU, Philippines - Dare to spark change through cinema. The Dakila-Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism seeks new revolutionaries—men and women—who dare to use this medium to incite change and to empower audiences towards social involvement.

For the Hasik Advocacy Filmmaking Seminar, 50 participants are sought each from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao for a two-day intensive cinema learning session.

Through the said program, participants get the opportunity to be mentored by the film industry’s most brilliant and respected personalities for free.

It is open to all aspiring, new filmmakers and students aged 15-35 years old. All interested applicants must submit a duly accomplished application form downloadable from www.activevista.com and other requirements on or before August 15, this year.

As for Alab Short Film Competition, it calls for entries on human rights themed short films by young Filipino filmmakers whose “fresh takes and innovative approaches to films will inspire revolutions of the mind.”

The film, open to abovementioned age bracket, must not exceed 15 minutes and must be independently produced. All interested filmmakers must submit two copies of the short film entry in DVD and AVI format, a one-page synopsis of the film, and a profile of the filmmaker with a 2x2 photograph.

Ten Best Short Films will be awarded and screened at the closing of the Active Vista Advocacy Film Festival 2010 on December 10 - International Human Rights Day. Winners will receive cash grants and trophies. Deadline of submission is on November 12, 2010.

Submit entries and application forms to Dakila Office at Unit 3A, VS1 Bldg., 34 Kalayaan Avenue, Barangay Malaya, Quezon City.

Details may be obtained by calling up 09054292539 or (02) 4354309. Email [email protected] or check out www.activevista.com and www.dakila.org.ph.
