She hearts JLC
Looking at the 21-year-old Shaina Magdayao now, I can’t help but remember that old song used as a commercial jingle that goes, “You must have been a beautiful baby, ‘cause baby look at you now.” Any cuteness she had as a child star has transformed into innocent hotness—the sort that Angelica Panganiban has been rocking to the extreme. If there’s still any doubt about that, well, just consider who her new boyfriend is: John Lloyd Cruz.
Wait, did I just hear the sound of more hearts breaking?
JLC, 27, recently admitted on The Buzz that he and Shaina were officially an item.
Allow me to be a girl for a moment and say that the Little Miss Conspiracy Theorist and Jealous Fan in me is partly wishing it was just an ABS-CBN publicity stunt after the Lloydie-Ruffa brouhaha. Of course, the much more enlightened me, the one who wishes only the best-est best for everybody, wishes them all the love in the world—even if that doesn’t make being a JLC fan any fun.
This is probably JLC’s most public relationship, as he had to hide his relationship with Ciara Sotto for a while; Liz Uy wasn’t really a showbiz personality; and, well, all he would say about Ruffa Gutierrez, 36, in the same The Buzz interview, is that “Yeah, it was a very special relationship.”
Notice how I’ve included the ages. That’s only to highlight JLC’s cross-generation appeal.
Of course, as in showbiz, there are still a lot of doubters. Not everyone wants everyone to be happy, and for these people, JLC gave this parting shot: “Sa lahat ng tao who don’t mean me well, I wish them the same happiness I have right now.”
Amen.
Charice on Glee
If you’ve still been resisting catching up with the latest craze, Glee, well, here’s more reason for you start watching. I say “more,” because prior to her, no other than Jollibee has a guesting stint in TV latest big hit. Now it’s confirmed: Charice Pempengco is joining the cast as an exchange student with a power voice that gets Rachel, the star, worrying.
I like Charice, the girl who wasn’t afraid to dream big dream. I liked her appearances in Oprah. I liked her cameo in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. I felt bad for her when Michael Jackson died and it was announced that she was supposed to be a guest at his concert. Truly, when God closes a door, he opens a window—or an even bigger door. Glee is Charice’s shot at stardom.
