Isabel Oli: Keeps Lovelife Private This Time
CEBU, Philippines - GMA-7 star and true-blooded Cebuana, Isabel Oli (Maria Olivia S. Daytia in real life) feels blessed to have a productive career and takes on the single life with an optimistic attitude.
The Cebu Entertainment Press got the chance to sit with Isabel during her recent visit in Cebu as part of the PLDT MyDSL WatchPad celebrity crew together with actor-host Ryan Agoncillo.
Isabel said that her home network has been pampering and treating her well that it never crossed her mind to move to another network, amidst reports of transfers here and there of many Kapuso artists, most particularly to the new kid on the block, TV5.
“There were no offers from other networks. And if ever, there is, I will refuse that offer. I’m comfortable and contented with GMA already, and I don’t have any reason of transferring to other networks,” said Isabel, who will be starring in a new teleserye soon.
At the moment, she’s finishing the joint movie offering of Regal and GMA films entitled “You To Me Your Everything”, which will be shown in theaters nationwide on May 2. The film stars GMA’s hottest love team, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera.
Isabel plays the role of Dindong’s girlfriend, which she found a little bit awkward to do.
During the [TV series] ‘Atlantica’ and [movie] ‘Moments of Love’ days, kuya ko si Dingdong but here he’s my boyfriend. So sa set parang ilang pero madalas nagtatawanan lang kami sa set,” she said.
The slender beauty also dismissed talk that pits her against Marian, stressing that she’ll never be a threat to Marian in Dingdong’s heart as she’s good friends with the couple.
“Marian is also a good friend of mine. She’s very nice and thoughtful. There’s a time nga, when she learned that I love Hello Kitty, she gave me a contact lens container with a Hello Kitty print,” Isabel said.
Isabel also talked about being a PLDT MyDSL endorser for two years now, a relationship she enjoys immensely as she claimed to be already using the product even before the opportunity to endorse it landed on her lap.
“We’ve been using PLDT since then. The service is great, fast and if ever there will be problems, you can easily call them for assistance. I’m glad that I’m part of the MyDSL family because if I endorse a product, I made it sure that I believe the quality of the product,” she said.
A sought-after commercial and ramp model before becoming an actress, Isabel said that despite her exposure to high fashion and her adoration of the British supermodel Kate Moss, she has never been fashion-conscious.
With her earnings in showbiz and endorsements, Isabel, who first got recognized through a fastfood chain commercial that paired her with popular heartthrob Piolo Pascual, has already invested in a town house, the construction of which will be finished next month. She’s also set to buy a new van and is planning to put up a spa business.
Despite being single since the controversial breakup with actor Paolo Contis almost two years ago, Isabel said she finds the single life an enjoyable state to be in.
Isabel, however, reluctantly admitted that she’s dating a non-showbiz personality for two months now. With her clipped answers, she’s obviously keeping her love life as private as she possibly could this time around, following her very public relationship to Paolo.
It was widely reported that the two were engaged to marry before the relationship ended in an unceremonious split that shocked and saddened both fans and friends in the biz. The ex has since found a new love, got married and become a father, while Isabel has obviously moved on, taking everything in stride and with a ready smile, despite being still hounded by the media with questions on her love life.
And the ready smile is without good reason. After all, the other areas of her life are amply blessed, and with her optimistic outlook, her lovelife should not be far behind as well.
