CEBU, Philippines - Encore’s resident DJ, Bombi “The Bomb” Balquiedra, rocked the house of Tambuli Resort in Mactan, Cebu last April 17 with his sexy, fun, cool mixes during the ultimate summer kick-off and outdoor dance event dubbed as “Paradiso”.
During the event, Balquiedra, who basically played ‘house’ and ‘progressive’ type of music as they are more popping and more alive had the beach clubbers eagerly grooving to the beat of his musical tapestry. Every time he cued in another mixset, the crowd could not help but get all stirred up.
In an interview with The FREEMAN, the Manila-based DJ admitted that it was his first time to have played in an outdoor dance event. “I was so surprised. It’s so nice. The setup and all is wonderful,” he said.
The Bomb, however, admitted that it was not his first time to play in Cebu as he also deejays every Sinulog Festival. “But this is my first time here in Cebu sa beach. First time, first time ever,” he confessed, adding that he loves the hospitality of the Cebuanos.
Having been in the industry for more than 10 years, Balquiedra has played all over prominent establishments in Manila like 78Orange, ABGs and Mars. He is also a resident DJ of Encore Embassy.
Asked what made him stay that long in the industry, Balquiedra just smiled and said, “Siguro it’s my passion…my love for music.” He shared that he grew up in a music-oriented household, with his father as his main influence. “Mahilig talaga sa music,” he admitted.
During the event, the clubbers also danced to the mixes of other featured DJs like Maxie Perez, Marlon Arellano, and Cebu’s very own lady DJ, Nikki Taylor. Bacolod City’s DJ Leandro Zayco and The Patiqueros also added color and life to the event as they played percussion-inspired music.
DJ Manolet Dario also played great music with the one and only Chico Cristobal playing on the live guitar. The event sizzled even more, many thanks to The Hutaru Flare Troupe, who did not only expose their hot bods but also their amazing talent in fire performance.
