PLUS: Cesar Montano still in grief over son's death; Anne Curtis plans to sue as 'nip-slip' spreads online

Cesar Montano is still shaken by the tragic death of his son Christian Angelo Manhilot last Friday. The 23-year-old son of the actor was found dead in his house in Quezon City, an apparent suicide. He had a gunshot wound in his right temple, and a gun was found by his side.

Cesar had just arrived in Bohol to start his campaign as a candidate for governor when he learned of his son’s death. He took for the first plane back to Manila .

"No words can describe the grief that my family and I are experiencing with this devastating news. He was young, a cheerful, thoughtful and loving son who has a generous heart and spirit," he said in a statement to the media.

Cesar couldn’t believe that he was with his son just the day before. "I was just with him yesterday before leaving for Bohol. Little did I know that it would be the last time I was to see him alive.”

The initial word is that Christian Angelo was devastated by his break-up with his sweetheart. But according to Cesar, "We are still trying to piece together some facts pertaining to his death.”

He appealed for everyone “to respect the privacy of my grieving family all this time. Thank you very much for your understanding.”

The actor has reportedly agreed to donate his son’s corneas to the Eye Bank.

If Yilmaz Bektas has indeed arrived in the country, he has successfully evaded reporters and photographers that had been staking out the airport. Ruffa Gutierrez’s ex is supposed to be in town to visit his kids. Perhaps Yilmaz doesn’t want to react to the story that came out in a newspaper in Turkey about his wedding with Zuleyka Rivera in June 21. Zuleyka, like Ruffa, is a former beauty queen. She was crowned Miss Universe in 2006.

So how did Ruffa take the news that her former husband will be tying the knot again? Quite well, according to one report. She was expecting that she would break down, but she didn’t. “So maybe it’s true that time heals all wounds.”

Ruffa also wishes her ex the best of luck. She said they’ve both moved on, and they respect each other now.

Anne Curtis is still fretting over the “nip slip” due to her wardrobe malfunction last week. She says she feels “disrespected” after a showbiz tabloid frontpaged the photo of her boob showing while she was rehearsing for a show in Boracay. She is even contemplating pressing charges against the tabloid. The incident was unfortunate but I don’t think it would be grounds to file a case. When Janet Jackson’s boob took a peek after Justine Timberlake ripped off her breastplate during the halftime show of the Super Bowl in 2004, it became a media event, but she never contemplated suing the TV network.

Comedian-actor Vice Ganda however, lashed out at the people behind the publication of the photo. "I pity those people because they never thought that it could also happen to their sister, their niece, aunt or mother. How would they feel then?” Vice said.

Strange things do happen. “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell will receive an international Emmy award for having “reshaped 21st century television and music around the world.” Being brutally honest pays off, after all.

But like I said before, I can’t imagine “American Idol” without Simon. He has put his stamp on the show and helped define its character. I will miss him when he leaves after this season.

Incidentally, there are only 10 singers left in “American Idol” after Paige Miles was voted out last week. Miles was ousted after an uninspired rendition of “Against All Odds,” a song popularized by Phil Collins.

The last 10 finalists will go on tour, so they could soak in the necessary exposure and experience.
