Masterworks By Ballet Philippines
CEBU, Philippines - Ballet Philippines will bring to Cebu Masterworks—a showcase of the best works that have established Ballet Philippines as the flagship company in ballet and contemporary dance. Masterworks will feature a performance of the heartbreak of unrequited love created by the late Tony Fabella; excerpts from the rock opera Tales of the Manuvu written by Filipino National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera with music by Dero Pedero; Swimming the Ilog Pasig, a moving depiction of the river’s demise by Alden Lugnasin; William Carter’s neo-classical ballet, Bach Concerto; BP Founding Artistic Director Alice Reyes’ Romeo and Juliet; and Denisa Reyes’ timely Te Deum created in 1985 before the EDSA Revolution which portrays through dance the struggles and aspirations of the Filipino people. Bring the whole family and witness the outstanding performance of Ballet Philippines, presented by SM City Cebu in cooperation with the Arts Council of Cebu Foundation, Inc. in a Gala Performance at 8pm, Thursday, February 4, 2010 and a Student’s Matinee at 3pm, Friday, February 5, 2010 at SM City Cebu’s Theater One.
