Brillante Mendoza to do Sen. Loren Legarda docu

- Ricky L. Calderon -

It was at the New Year’s Shindig given by Senator Loren Legarda for the members of the movie press last week where we first heard the new political jingle of the lady senator. This was a take-off from the song “Hawak Kamay” popularized by Pinoy Dream Academy Season 1 winner Yeng Constantino.

According to Senator Loren, they bought the rights to the song from the composer and mind you, it was not cheap. The lyrics were changed to suit the need as a political jingle for the senator who is running for vice president under NPC, with Senator Manny Villar as her running mate.

She added that they are going to shoot a music video for the song that will be used during the campaign. The video will be launched either on February or March.

Even if Mother Lily Monteverde is very vocal in her support to Senator Noynoy Aquino, the lady senator is confident that the Regal Films matriarch is supporting her in her quest for the second highest post in the land. Mother Lily first supported Loren the first time she ran for the senate in 1998 and had since been behind her. “She treats me like a daughter and even her whole family is supporting me,” added Loren.

The senator was asked to comment on the C5 issue involving Senator Villar that was investigated by the Senate.

“There was already a resolution in the Senate dismissing the case but there is another resolution needed that I still have to see,” she said. “In my opinion, every one should have the opportunity to explain their side on a matter involving them. There should be an end to every issue but I believe that people should also be fair to Senator Villar.”

When she was asked if she misses broadcasting, she said, “I’ve been in broadcasting for many years. Now is my time to continue to serve. I was able to espouse on my advocacies thru television and was able to bring them to the Senate for 12 years, and hopefully to a higher office. These are my advocacies on health, education, environment and climate change,” said Loren.

Loren also disclosed that Cannes award-winning director Brillante “Dante” Mendoza is doing a documentary for her that would touch on her advocacies on the environment and climate change.

Flawless presented the 21 candidates to their Picture Flawless contest. Actually, there were 23 candidates but only 21 were able to make it to the press presentation. The girls are all pretty and the guys are good-looking. They confessed that they joined Picture Flawless with the hope that this would open doors for them to enter showbiz.

There is a text voting component in the contest for one boy and one girl to win the top prize worth P800,000. Some of the contestants have joined other talent searches in the past like Paolo Antonio Jereza, who joined Star Circle Batch 1, but was cut after the 3rd round. He confessed he was chubby that time (his waistline then was 40, now it’s down to 32) but we must say he still needs to lose weight if ever he wants to pursue his dream of entering showbiz.

Paolo is 20 and is graduating this March from PSBA Quezon city. His mom is a regular customer at Flawless and when he learned about the contest, he was enticed to join.
