Erich Gonzales waited long for her break

SHOWBIZ DRIBBLE - Salve V. Asis -

Erich Gonzales is hurt by Ejay Falcon’s supposed remarks that without him she wouldn’t make it big in showbiz. “I didn’t expect that from him,” lamented Erich of her former co-star in the teleserye “Katorse.”

“We were doing fine together. I merely told him that he should always prepare for work so he wouldn’t be a burden to his fellow actors,” she added.

Erich doesn’t deny that “Katorse” has helped boost her career. “For a long time I waited for that chance to arrive. It didn’t happen overnight,” she said.

In a separate TV interview several days later, Ejay denied he made the cutting remarks. “I don’t have the right to say those things to her,” he said.

If Erich doesn’t see eye to eye with Ejay, she has kind words for Enchong Dee, her co-star in the upcoming ABS-CBN soap “Tanging Yaman.” In fact, many suspect that the bouquet of flowers that was delivered to Erich during the presscon for the new primetime series came from Enchong. When movie scribes asked her who sent the flowers, Erich said the card that came with them was missing. Hey, there’s nothing wrong when a guy sends you flowers, so why deny?

It turned out that Enchong had invited Erich to spend Christmas with him and his family in Bangkok. Erich had wanted to go, but she couldn’t squeeze the trip into her schedule. “Work always comes first,” she said.

Erich described Enchong as the perfect gentleman. She was touched when he tended for her when she fell ill while she was taping for “Katorse.” But right now she’s not entertaining any romantic proposals. She’s too busy with the projects ABS-CBN is lining up for her.

It seems the network is pinning its hopes on Erich to be its next bright young star. She’s excited about “Ang Tanging Yaman.” “It’s a different story and I’m playing a different character. I just hope I won’t let ABS-CBN down.”

Erich plays Fina, an 18-year-old single mother trying to escape from a life of poverty.

She’s taking up workshops to prepare for her role.

“Tanging Yaman” airs beginning January.

Charlie Sheen, the star of the TV sitcom “Two and Half Men,” was arrested on Christmas day of charges of domestic violence. Sheen was hauled to the police station after his wife, Brooke Mueller, called 911 to report that he threatened her and held a knife to her throat.

By the middle of last week, Sheen has asked a court to lift an order banning him from approaching his wife.
