Make way for "Pilipinas Got Talent"
CEBU, Philippines - ABS-CBN is now touring around the nation to discover the country’s best-kept talents who will compete in the Philippine edition of the biggest talent-reality search worldwide—“Pilipinas Got Talent.”
“Pilipinas Got Talent” is primetime TV version of the famed “Got Talent” franchise, which was developed by the very popular British music-entrepreneur and TV personality, Simon Cowell. Being one of the fastest-growing international franchises, it has gained distinction and huge success in countries like the United States, India and Australia.
Last week, “Pilipinas Got Talent” started pre-auditions in Batangas. It has rolled into Cebu this week for a 3-day audition at the Cebu Institute of Technology that began last Wednesday, November 11, 2009.
Cebu is really more known for its brilliant singers and dancers, but actors, comedians, contortionists, jugglers, acrobats, bikers, magicians came all the way from the North and South to showcase their talents at the auditions. There were also hopefuls who came from the neighboring islands of Bacolod, Negros, and Leyte.
The lucky contestants will return for the audition proper to be held early next year. The winning solo or group performances will take home P2 million in cash and international tour packages.
The show will be hosted by the country’s brightest talents: Billy Crawford and Luis Manzano. Billy and Luis will be the Philippine counterparts of “Britain’s Got Talent” hosts Ant and Dec. They will be using their wits, humor, and charm as they guide the “Pilipinas Got Talent” hopefuls throughout their journey to stardom—the core of which is performing before a set of tough and selective judges. It was earlier rumored that the Queen of All Media, Kris Aquino, will be hosting the said talent search, but she already admitted in her program Showbiz News Ngayon that she is taking a different role this time—as a judge.
Will Kris be the cruel judge? Or will she be the kinder one? And who’s judging with her? We will find out very soon on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.
If you think you got what it takes to make it among the country’s finest talents, catch the last day of the Cebu leg of pre-auditions today, November 13, 2009, at the Cebu Institute of Technology, and Baguio on Nov. 19-21; Cagayan De Oro on Nov. 25-27; Davao on Nov. 30-Dec. 2; and Manila on Dec. 5-6, and 12-13.
