Family Feud is back for season 3

- Ricky L. Calderon -

GMA 7 is bring ing back the funfilled family game show “Family Feud” hosted by Richard Gomez. The launching presscon was held at the Studio 5 of the GMA Network Center and we were lucky enough to be picked to participate in the game together with fellow writers Jun Nardo, Nap Alip and Ruel Mendoza.

It wasn’t the first time we joined a contest on TV but last Tuesday was different because we didn’t have any idea if the game that we played would be aired.

Unfortunately, we lost to the team of Walden Belen, Dondon Sermino, Lito Manago and Lourdes Carino. They were able to get the maximum number of points of 300 to get into the jackpot round and went on to win the jackpot prize of P60,000.

We didn’t go home empty-handed as we received a consolation prize of P3,000. But we must admit we were nervous, although we told ourselves that we were going to enjoy the experience more than anything else. After all, it doesn’t happen all the time that one gets to play on a game show, and come face to face with Richard, who made all of us feel at ease despite truly feeling the tension. It was a nice experience and we definitely enjoyed it.

The new season of “Family Feud” starts on Monday, October 19. It is bigger in scope and offers bigger prizes. Even the people from the provinces can join the contest. All they have to do is audition. If they hurdle the audition and make it as studio contestants, they will be brought to GMA 7 to play. The program will shoulder their expenses while in Manila.

On another note, Richard said he still can’t come up with a definite answer if he would pursue with his plan to run as congressman in the 4th district of Ormoc next year. If he makes a go of his plan, he might miss the last two weeks of “Family Feud” since it will run for six months. Given such predicament, what would Richard do? Would he choose his career or would his desire to run for an elective post prevail?

After being affected by the recent flood, Katorse’s lead star Erich Gonzales is now working hard to build a new dwelling, away from the traumatic flood-prone areas where she used to reside.

Despite the hindrance of getting over with the effects of the typhoon, the 2005 Star Circle Quest grand questor managed to reach out to her co-victims and rendered help through Sagip Kapamilya.

Erich shared her experience with the tragedy and how she’s working hard to build another dream home. “Nag-iipon nga po ako para makabili ng bahay sa mataas na lugar. Kaya nga po nagtratrabaho ako ng husto. Kahit binaha din kami, gusto ko pong tumulong sa kapwa kong mga nasalanta. Marami po kasi akong opportunity para kumita ng pera, sila, medyo nahihirapan makabangon.”

In the upcoming episodes of Katorse, Nene (Erich Gonzales) and Jojo (Enchong Dee) will be troubled as the whole province discovers their relationship. On the other hand, Nene’s former partner Gabby (Ejay Falcon) had a change of heart and decides to win Nene back. Jojo goes to the province to see Nene. But on his way to her beloved girl, a group of rowdy locals beats him up. Gabby then sees Jojo while being hit, but did nothing.

Will Jojo be saved from Gabby’s betrayal? What if Nene breaks up with Jojo to follow her mom’s rule?

“We need to adjust to the times,” said Michael V at the presscon of his new GMA 7 show titled “Bitoy’s Showwwtime,” which replaces the top-rating “Bitoy’s Funniest Videos” which bowed out last week to give way to the new program that, according to Michael V, will showcase the wackiest side of Filipinos here and abroad.

Although he did not articulate it, the decision to come up with “Bitoy’s Showwwtime” which bears some resemblance to “Talentadong Pinoy” of TV5, was the fact that the show hosted by Ryan Agoncillo is pulling the rug over Bitoy’s former program.

“We are just reacting to the times. We need to come up with the right action based on the situation,” said the funnyman Michael V who is playing a futuristic emperor in search of the best skilled Pinoy and the newest internet-ional star! With his loyal jester Mang Enriquez, Michael V will present his discoveries in one hilarious hour through the show’s four segments: Talbugan, Videokariran, Facemuk and Gaya Mo ‘Yun?.

When asked how different is “Bitoy’s Showwwtime” from the competitor in TV5, Michael V said their show has an international touch or caliber because they are seeking contestants via the internet. “We are bringing up the ante of the show’s genre,” he added. But they didn’t entirely take out the trademarks of “Bitoy’s Funniest Videos” from the new program since “Bitoy’s Showwwtime” will also feature the best of everything as gleaned from the four segments in the show.
