Boyz II Men's Cebu concert finally pushes through

CEBU, Philippines - After a series of postponements, the hit-making American R&B group Boyz II Men will finally be coming to Cebu to stage its first-ever and much-anticipated concert in the Queen City of the South.

Nevertheless, 3Some Events and Productions clarified in a press conference held at Vienna Kaffeehaus last June 25 that the company is not, in any way, connected with the previous organizers of the failed Boyz II Men concert in the city, which was supposedly set early this year. This after 3Some Events announced the band’s upcoming gig come July 22 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Lahug.

“We have been granted exclusive rights to stage and produce this event,” said Lizette Palermo, events marketing and PR manager of 3Some Events.

Tonyson Luther Lee of 3Some Events further clarified that tickets bought for the previously scheduled concert will not be honored as their company “has nothing to do” with the previous producers. “This is a different production,” he said.

Lee assured the Cebuanos that Boyz II Men will indeed be coming and that they will be complete.

“They are the only Grammy awardees who will be coming to Cebu to perform before Cebuanos,” he said.

Lee revealed that during the concert, they will be raffling off three Cherry Mobile phones, regardless of the seating. They also assured the Cebuanos that they will be given an unforgettable concert experience as the technical aspects will be handled by professional companies from Metro Manila.

Boyz II Men, composed of Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morris, is the most successful rhythm and blues group in terms of record sales. To date, they have sold over 60 million albums in their over 20 years as a group. They are known for their hits such as “I’ll Make Love to You” and “On Bended Knee.”

Boyz II Men Live in Cebu! is co-produced by 3Some Events and JCI Metro Cebu Uptown.

Proceeds of the show will benefit the Cebu City Task Force on Street Children. Representatives from JCI said that the income that they will be making from this concert will also be used to fund their on going socio-civic projects like medical missions, feeding programs and trainings for their members and of other organizations.

Ticket prices start at P1,000. Tickets are sold at Patio Ecila in Asiatown IT Park, Bistro Ecila in The Terraces, RC Goldline outlets, Gloria Jean’s at The Terraces, Anzani/Bellini, Parkmall Customer Service Counter, Black Panda Travel and Tours offices, and the 3Some Events office in Ibabao, Mandaue City.
