Joel Lamangan directs upcoming romantic-comedy series "Adik Sa 'Yo"

CEBU, Philippines – Following the success of the afternoon soap Sinenovela Presents Paano Ba Ang Mangarap?, A-list director Joel C. Lamangan shifts from drama to romantic-comedy, with GMA Network’s latest addition to its Telebabad Block, ADIK SA ‘YO.

The award-winning director, whose previous works with GMA-7 include Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita, Asian Treasures, Obra, and Sine Novelas, Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig, Una Kang Naging Akin, Paano Ba Ang Mangarap?, among others, first took on a romantic-comedy project when he helmed GMA Films’ and Regal Entertainment’s Valentine offering, When I Met U, this year. The Richard and KC-starrer ended up reaping stunning success at the box-office earning a staggering 100 million pesos during the course of its theatrical run.

It was then that moviegoers, critics and the audience in general realized that not only could Direk Joel make people laugh or cry, but he can also marry romance, comedy and drama and turn it into a feel-good and heart-lifting surehit masterpiece.

And thus, it is only fitting that GMA Network decided to entrust the purely original romantic comedy series, Adik Sa ‘Yo, starring Jennica Garcia, Dennis Trillo, Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin, to the top-caliber director.

Adik Sa ‘Yo is also a reunion of sorts for the main cast with Direk Joel, except for Jolina, who hasn’t had the privilege to work with the premier director in the past. Jennica last worked under his direction when she did Sinenovela Presents: Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig while Dennis on the other hand, did with him Blue Moon and the acclaimed 2004 period piece Aishte Imasu 1941. Meanwhile, Marvin’s last project with him was the primetime drama Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita. All did remarkably well in terms of either ratings or box-office success, where much of the credit goes to Direk Joel’s superior and peerless knack for directing.

Currently, Direk Joel is busy taping Adik Sa ‘Yo, which will soon air over GMA Telebabad.
