Anne Curtis on newest travel adventure

- Ricky L. Calderon -

Anne Curtis attended the press launch of her TV commercial for GSM Blue that was held Monday night at The Malayan Plaza poolside located at Ortigas Center. Anne also talked briefly about her forthcoming TV series titled “The Wedding” for ABS-CBN.

“I am proud to be the endorser of GSM Blue. My happiness emanates from the fact that this partnership remains very strong after all these years. Time flies so fast although I think it has already been five years since,” said the 24-year Filipino-Australian who has always said we should be responsible drinkers.

“If there’s someone who will always be eternally young and refreshing to look at, it’s Anne. Just like GSM Blue, Anne and friendship among katropas will never go out of style,” said GSMI marketing head Nelson S. Elises.

GSM brand manager Bong Gregorio said: “GSM Blue is built on youthful friendships that last for a long time. Youth is a time to make friends and bond with them, so this is where we come.” The GSM commercial is about the joys of barkadahan and it shows the fun side of Anne.

The best actress winner at the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival for “Baler” left for Spain yesterday for a month-long vacation. Anne is backpacking. She’s leaving alone and is just meeting her friends in Europe. “I am visiting Madrid, Barcelona, Mallorca, Marbella, and Salamanca. I was the one who booked for this trip. I researched on the places that I am going to. Mahirap na baka ma-‘Taken’ ako,” she said referring to the recent movie starring Liam Neeson.

“I am excited with this trip. Na-break ko na ang fear since I did make a backpacking trip na before. I’m taking different kinds of transport during my trip. I am excited kasi iba ang experience na hahanap ka ng bus ticket mo tapos pipila ka. Plus the places that I am going to are very laid back, countryside cities, hindi cosmopolitan areas. I also want to be educated on the places that I will be visiting.”

As a precautionary measure, Anne went to St. Luke’s Hospital last Monday morning to have a vaccine shot to safeguard and protect herself from the H1N1 world virus.

When she comes back, Anne is making a big announcement about her next big project. She declined to give details although the press has a hint that it has something to do with a movie project that will pair her with Richard Gutierrez.

While she didn’t make any confirmation, Anne said it would be a good idea for her to work with Richard. “The last time we worked together was five years ago, in an episode of ‘Love to Love’ and I was still with GMA 7 then. It would be nice to reunite with Richard in a project,” she remarked.

After a three-year absence from the US concert tour circuit, Megastar Sharon Cuneta once again hits the road this May and June. Included in the tour are Toronto, Reno, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Houston and Los Angeles.

Because her loyal Sharonians abroad miss her so, this tour is guaranteed to be the hottest ticket in town—making it the most anticipated Filipino show in years (as was proven by the number of inquiries the concert tours have been getting online).

It will be recalled that the Megastar performed in the US in 1996, 1997, and 1998 for her grand world tour—which broke house records in Atlantic City, Reno, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, as well as Winnipeg and Vancouver in Canada and London in England.

By 2005, Sharon’s US Mega Concert Tour 2005 to six key US cities: Jacksonville, Florida; NewYork/Atlantic City; Reno, Nevada; San Diego and Los Angeles, California became the toast of the concert orbit.

Sharon was the first Filipino artist to break SRO records at both the Shrine Auditorium and the MGM Grand Garden Arena—so much so that her poster was on display in both venues’ Hall of Fame, alongside that of Barbra Streisand’s (at the MGM Grand) and Sheena Easton’s and Michael Jackson’s (at the Shrine).

Special guest during the concert is no other than KC Concepcion—touted to be the next megastar of the Philippines.

Many are so eager to watch KC perform live as this is the first time she will be performing in the US and with her mom at that.

The concert aptly billed “Sharon Cuneta: Megathirty” will be staged on June 12, 2009, Friday, 8 pm at The Shrine Auditorium.

The concert is executive produced by KATZ Entertainment, which is led by Jackie Regala and Gerry Katigbak.

The show is produced in association with FLB Corporation (Nationwide/International Sales & Service Installation Service for TFC on Direct TV) and Brad’s Entertainment. It is also presented by Seafood City Supermarket, Western Union, and LBC Cargo. Also sponsored by Asian Journal Publications, The Filipino Channel, Tribune USA and Weekend Balita. Also brought to you by Joy Silva of Century 21; Gandi Skin Care, K.M. Printing, Inc., O’Skin Care, Mabuhay Inc. Home Care, Clothing & Accessories and Jimmy Deguzman, General Contractor.
