CEBU, Philippines - Following the success of Zorro on GMA-7’s primetime block, Richard Gutierrez continues to reap accolades after being one of the recipients of this year’s Fr. Neri Satur Awardees for Environmental Heroism of the Office of the President of the Philippines.
Through the Office of the Presidential Adviser of Global Warming and Climate Change, Richard is awarded the Fr. Neri Satur Special Citations for Media and Culture. This citation recognizes his efficient hosting stint for “SIGNOS: Banta ng Nagbabagong Klima,” the first full-length Philippine documentary of GMA News and Public Affairs on global warming, which was aired last April 20, 2008.
Richard has been strongly committed to his advocacies of spreading awareness on the adverse effects of climate change. He is the celebrity spokesperson of Greenpeace and has been an active participant of its worldwide cause of saving mother earth.
His Eminence Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales is the main awardee. Other recipients include Timmy Cruz (Eco-friendly Artist) and Francis Magalona, who will be given a posthumous award for being an Eco-friendly Host.
The ceremonies will be held today, April 18, 2009, 1pm at the NBN-4 Studios, Visayas Avenue in Quezon City. It will be aired the following day at 4:00pm at “Sining Gising” TV program of the Department of Education and the National Commission on Culture and the Arts over the same station, with a replay on April 23, 9:15 pm at the “Equilibrium” TV show also at NBN. Richard will be personally accepting the award.
