CEBU, Philippines – Shoppers of SM City Cebu were treated to great performances from proudly Filipino international band The Speaks and Cebu’s pride Jay-R Siaboc. These performers rocked SM City Cebu during its recently-held “Awesome 3-Day Sale” on April 3, 4, 5 and that extended until April 6, 2009.
The Speaks performed live on April 3, 2009 their adrenaline-driven numbers, soulful rock ballads, and hook-filled songs. The Speaks—with several members who are all American-born, but of Filipino heritage—also sang their hit song “High”—which has had gained support from major radio stations in the United States. The Speaks has created a loyal and dedicated following within the local and international music scene. Their music video also gained regular rotation on MTV Asia, MYX, and other music video channels. “I love performing in my country. The people are just so great. We also wish to thank our fans here in Cebu,” Filipino-American band vocalist Raf Toledo said.
Another hitmaker and Cebu’s pride Jay-R Siaboc delivered slow rock music and love songs. Jay-R, who started out as a “Bisrocker,” performed on April 4, 2009, wherein fans as well as family members all the way from Toledo City showed up to lend their support. Jay-R, the first runner-up in ABS-CBN’s “Pinoy Dream Academy,” recalled the time when he auditioned for the reality show-cum-singing search PDA also at SM City Cebu’s Entertainment Plaza. Siaboc was also the former vocalist of Cebu-based band Scrambled Eggs. He also appeared on television on “Your Song,” “Pangarap na Bituin,” “Palos,” “Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara” and “Kapitan Boom.”
The live performances of The Speaks and Jay-R Siaboc were supported by The Old Spaghetti House in SM City Cebu.
