CEBU, Philippines - The success at the box-office of "When I Met You," featuring KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez, has definitely made KC a celebrity in her own right. She's no longer referred to as the Mega Daughter. She has made her own star shine.
At the victory party of "When I Met You" last week, KC was misty-eyed when told about this observation by the movie press.
"Parang I want to cry," she admitted. "Of course, I am very proud of my mother. It's hard to be compared to her but it's a blessing as well. The pressure is great but it means a lot to me that the people in my generation are enjoying the kind of work that I am doing. I didn't enter this business to compete with anybody. I just love the work so much. I know the expectations of the people are very high. But instead of going crazy over the expectations, I am just prioritizing my work."
She continued, "It's really hard to live under the shadow of my mom. I love to make movies that have a good story and are entertaining as well, but it's hard because my mom and I are always compared. She's my mom and I have high respect for her, [but] I hope they won't compare us. She has been in this business for 30 years while I am just starting. And I have my own story too. Kung ano ang magiging buhay ko, yun din ang magiging story ko. I just want to share myself and my talent to the people."
How does she feel with the comment that her acting has improved a lot? "Thanks a lot for such comments. I know that there's so much that I need to work on. I enjoyed myself doing this movie and I hope to get more projects so I could improve so much more on my craft. I want to share with them more interesting stories," said KC.
