CEBU, Philippines - This weekend, audiences in Cebu will get the rare opportunity to watch a professionally produced stage play as Manila-based Repertory Philippines brings its highly-acclaimed production of "Tuesdays with Morrie" to the SM City Cebu, Cinema 2 this February 21, Saturday. Repertory Philippines is the country's leading English language theater company and is headed by artistic director Baby Barredo, who also directs the play.
"Tuesdays with Morrie," which is based on the bestselling inspirational book by Mitch Albom, is the true story of a cynical sportswriter named Mitch (Bart Guingona) who forms an unexpected friendship with his old college professor, Morrie Schwartz (Miguel Faustmann). Though suffering from a terminal illness, Morrie still manages to teach his old student a few lessons about life. It is a funny and uplifting play, which played to sold-out audiences in Manila, Angeles, Dumaguete, and Cagayan de Oro.
"Tuesdays with Morrie" stars two of the best actors in the Philippine theater scene: Bart Guingona and Miguel Faustmann. Miguel Faustmann is well known to television viewers as David Garcia in ABS-CBN's primetime soap "Tayong Dalawa."
