Viewers have given positive reviews on the first week of “Pieta,” the newest afternoon teleserye on ABS-CBN because of its remarkable action and drama scenes.
Even Internet users have expressed their admiration for “Pieta’s” storyline, Toto Natividad and Don Cuaresma’s directing, down to the whole cast’s acting. That’s why “Pieta” is now a hot topic even in chat rooms and Internet sites.
In a popular Internet forum, many gave comments that “Pieta” is very engaging. They have also identified their favorite scenes, including the controversial “brief scene”.
According to a fan in the forum, “It’s just the first week but the scenes are already thrilling! I can’t wait for the following days. Cherie Gil and Ryan Agoncillo’s acting are perfect.”
But even if the show has gotten positive feedback, there are still dissenting opinions, just like this message sent to us by a viewer who reacts: “I am not convinced with the acting of Ryan Agoncillo. He doesn’t look credible as a bad boy. Malamya ang dating ng acting niya.”
The viewer said the role could have been more interesting had it been given instead to Mark Anthony Fernandez. “He’s the actor who’s more suited for the role. His acting has more depth. Ryan needs to brush up his acting. Sana nag-workshop muna siya.”
But Mark Anthony can’t do the role in “Pieta” anymore because it has already been given to Ryan. Besides, Mark Anthony belongs to the Kapuso station and no matter the protestations regarding Ryan’s “effectiveness” (or the lack of it) in playing the lead role in “Pieta,” the role is his and you can’t take that away from him anymore.
Should Ryan ask acting tips from girlfriend Judy Ann Santos instead so as to give more meat to his portrayal?

Starting Saturday, November 15, the second season of “Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade V,” with Janno Gibbs as Chairman of the Blackboard, starts with a new set of whiz kids joining the singer-TV host in the Philippine franchise of the popular game show in the US, “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?”
The 10 bright and gifted students who hurdled the auditions that consisted of exams and interviews are David Omilla (Claret School of Quezon City), Jules Cyber Cruz (Lourdes School of Mandaluyong), Matthew Kyle Oronce (Diliman Preparatory School), Gabriel Viloria Larin (Lagro Elementary School, Michael Brian Alvarez (Lourdes School of Mandaluyong), Pauline Allyson Abalos (University of the Philippines Integrated School), Louis Luthy (Claret School of Quezon City), Ram Louis del Mundo (Colegio de San Juan de Letran), Katherine Anne Pavinop (Colegio de San Agustin) and Russel Kashmere Garcia (Colegio de San Agustin).
When asked if he’d be brave enough to be a contestant in “Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade V?,” Janno said he’d probably reach only the early rounds. “I don’t think I can do it. Pero walang uuwing luhaan sa show na ito. Besides, even before the first season ended, I was already told we might have a second season. Hopefully, babalik talaga and I was happy with the emails we received that they enjoyed the show and they want it back.”
Of course, he was kind of anxious as to when the show is coming back. First of all, this is Janno’s first-ever game show. And it has a different format. “It’s just about that you’d be able to guess the answers easily. Or you’ll really on pure luck. You really have to know the answers to win in every round,” said Janno. He even added that he has learned a lot from the show, and from the kids as well.
When asked to comment regarding the impending exit of Karylle from GMA as well as from their Sunday noontime program, “SOP,” Janno asked, in turn, if it’s really confirmed that Karylle is moving to the rival network and show. “I’ve heard about that but we still have a chance to stop her. Ako talaga ay tagapigil. Inasar ko na nga siya. Sabi ko hindi ko na siya kakausapin pag lumipat siya,” Janno said in jest at the presscon “Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade V” at the 17th floor of the GMA 7 building along EDSA Avenue last Sunday.
“Ako kasi nanggaling na rin sa ganoong sitwasyon na muntik na rin akong lumipat. Parang gusto ko na rin dati so I know the feeling. My loyalty prevailed. It’s hard to leave your friends here in GMA. They are like family already,” said Janno. “Wala nang Ogie Alcasid, or Regine Velasquez kung umalis ako. May kanya-kanyang reason kung bakit lumipat. Mayroon because of business decision. Mayroon dahil nagtampo. ‘Yung sa akin, dahil nagtampo ako.”
