'Survivor' castoffs from Cebu now Kapuso artists
Following in the footsteps of Patani Daño of Camotes Island, who can now be regularly seen on “Unang Hirit” and “Eat Bulaga,” the two other “Survivor Philippines” castoffs from Cebu have signed up management contracts with GMA Artist Center.
Vevherly Gador of Alcantara, Cebu while Nikki Dacullo, who was born and raised in Tacloban City, but has been living and working in Cebu when she auditioned to be a castaway, are set to explore opportunities in show businesses under the talent management arm of the Kapuso network. As of presstime, they are undergoing workshops to hone their core talents.
Gador is a junior Criminology student (and was once named Miss Criminology) at the University of Cebu. Nikki Dacullo, on the other hand, was also a beauty queen in her hometown.
Even if GMA 7 is the leading TV network in Metro Manila, its officials nevertheless have been vocal about it being outshone by its competing network in the ratings game here in Cebu. Could signing up these Cebuano castoffs a move to perk up its regional ratings performance?
Whether this is a strategy or not, this is a first in the history of GMA’s reality TV shows to sign up talents from Cebu, and that the kind of projects that will be given to these young ladies should be something to watch out for.
