After three long years of waiting, one of the country’s most successful big-screen team-ups, Vhong Navarro and Toni Gonzaga is once again being brought together by Star Cinema via “My Only U.”
Still part of Star Cinema’s 15th anniversary, “My Only U” is megged once more by the box-office director, Cathy Garcia-Molina, who is reuniting with Toni after their back-to-back hits “You Are The One” and “You Got Me,” and working with Vhong for the very first time.
The movie injects humor and love in what is otherwise a topic that many refuse to talk about: death.
“The film talks about how one guy can love someone who’s not going to be around for long and who’s no longer open to falling in love. And at the same time, it asks the question, how do you open your heart to someone, with whom you can’t be certain if you’re willing to stay beside her?” said Toni.
Vhong explained, “In the film, Toni’s character is dying because she’s sick. My role is that I try to make the most of every second or time I have with her.”
Vhong continued, “It is an honor for me to be paired again with Toni for Star Cinema’s 15th anniversary. We really had fun doing D’Anothers, and I miss our bonding moments.”
As for Toni, she said, “After Wazzup Wazzup and our movie before, we only got to see each other during ASAP. But we always text each other and talk if we have the time. That’s why I feel happy that we are working together in a film because Vhong is really a dear friend of mine, and he’s fun to be with.”
“This is another movie that will touch your hearts. We hope to make moviegoers happy with what we did for this film,” said direk Cathy Garcia-Molina.
The latest 15th anniversary offering of Star Cinema, “My Only U,” is slated to open in theaters tomorrow, October 29, 2008.
