Among the most burden some jobs in music business is having the first major in one of the metro’s most famous stage. The three lads who brought us the hits Hari Ng Sablay, Mariposa, Kwarto, Wag Ka Nang Umiyak and Dear Kuya comprise SUGARFREE—one of the most anticipated rock bands in the country—kicked off their exacting 90 minute set at the Music Museum with the Manila Symphony Orchestra in September of last year. Again, to celebrate their 9th year in the music scene and to give out to their fans their first major concert, EMI Phils and Sugarfree release the album SUGARFREE LIVE! with The Manila Symphony Orchestra.
Sugarfree Live!, starting out with their stellar production team that paved way to the concert’s sold out crowd headed by Treb Montreras (who worked with the band on the music video of “Tulog Na”) director for both the live show and the video documentation; Chino David of the band Silent Sanctuary (Musical Arranger and Orchestra Conductor); Angee Rozul of Tracks Studio (who engineered their latest album “Tala-Arawan”) is in charge of the multi-track audio recording; and Shari Villa worked her magic on the lights. This 2-disc album is Sugarfree’s first live album since they started in 2003.
The power trio is composed of Ebe Dancel on lead vocals and guitar, Jal Taguibao on bass and back-up vocals, and newcomer Kaka Quisumbing on drums.
As the small-yet-mighty rock trio played heartily at the center stage to the fans, to their families and friends and people from the media, Sugarfree proudly gained more assurance that they still remain as one of the top rock performers in the land today. The magical experience was graced by the MSO with the band’s set list which leaned heavily on material from the band’s 2003 breakthrough album Sa Wakas (2003) to Dramachine (2004) to Tala-Arawan (2006).
Ebe, Jal and Kaka displayed their flair of up-tempo numbers to their heartfelt lyrical passages which were as close to their recorded versions as a live performance could allow. That’s why the band is giving away this special package of this much-talked-about performance and returns the favor to their fans and to all it deserves. Sugarfree is set to release their forthcoming album soon and will again prove as if to infer that they’ll remain as main attraction in years to come.
The album also comes with a PUGAD DENCIO’S Premium AVCD which contains the band’s new single – PUGAD, the Pugad Dencio’s jingles, and behind the scenes footage of the video shoot and launch. Sugarfree Live! is currently available in all Dencio’s branches for P299. You can also avail the album for P275 at Dencio’s for any food purchase. The album is also is available in Music One, Odyssey and Astroplus branches nationwide starting next week.
