Still reeling from personal problems, Gabby Concepcion absorbed another blow last week after his father Rollie passed away following a heart attack. I remember Gabby saying that one of the reasons he returned to the Philippines was to be with his dad, who had long been weakened by heart problems.
The two had an emotional reunion and had had happy moments together since.
A death in the family is always an occasion for healing old wounds, and I hope that the people with whom Gabby had differences give him the space in his time of grief.

The cat is finally out of the bag. Ending weeks of speculation, Vina Morales admitted last week that she was two weeks pregnant. She told movie scribe Tita Cristy Fermin that she has already had an ultrasound, but that it was too early to determine if it’s a boy or girl.
The actress-singer said the pregnancy could be a difficult one, considering that she’s already 32. Nevertheless, she’s looking forward to having a baby. Vina is beginning to feel changes in her body. “I feel sleepy and sluggish,” she says. She craves for chocolates.
So who’s the father? Vina has never denied that she’s been carrying on a relationship with businessman who’s very much married. She says she’s ready to face up to the consequences of her pregnancy. Her boyfriend is also happy for the baby, she says.
Complications, however, will definitely set in. There were reports that the relationship was going through a difficult stretch, but Vina says it’s something the two of them could easily overcome.
A legal case could also pose a big problem. The estranged wife could sue, and a protracted court battle could test Vina’s resolve.
Right now the pregnancy doesn’t seem to affect Vina’s showbiz career. She seems at home with Star Magic, and Star Magic appears to be comfortable with her.

The Parañaque City Prosecutor’s Office has found enough evidence to file an estafa case against Alma Moreno in court. The case involves a check Alma wrote out to an advertising agency involving P39,000. The check allegedly bounced.
The complainant, Media Arts Yielding Ads., Inc., claims that the former actress issued the check as payment for the campaign tarpaulin they made for her in 2007. Alma admitted that she wrote out the check but that her campaign representative failed to follow up on the funds.

It was admirable of Charlene Gonzales to put to rest the issue over the supposed snide remark uttered by Kris Aquino during a fashion show of Randy Ortiz. Kris made a remark about how Charlene tried to upstage everybody by wearing a dress that was different from what the designer had prescribed. Kris has since apologized on television, saying what she said was a joke. Charlene had never responded to Kris in public, until last week.
Pressed to comment on QTV 11 last week, the wife of Aga Muhlach finally opened up. “I wish everyone well. It’s not worth burning any bridges with anyone. The world of showbiz is too small.”
She also thanked all the people who supported her. “I must have planted good seeds and I have the opportunity to meet wonderful friends.”

Nicole Kidman credits a waterfall in the Australian Outback for her getting pregnant at such a late age.
The 41-year-old Australian actress said she and six other women had swam in the waterfall in the remote town of Kununurra while she was filming the movie Australia last year. Shortly after all seven women got pregnant.
“I never thought that I would get pregnant and give birth to a child, but it happened on this movie,” Kidman told The Australian Women’s Weekly. “Seven babies were conceived out of this film and only one was a boy. There is something up there in the Kununurra water because we all went swimming in the waterfalls, so we can call it the fertility waters now.”
Kidman gave birth to daughter Sunday Rose last July.
The actress is married to country music singer Keith Urban and has two other daughters from her previous marriage to heartthrob Tom Cruise.
