Rufa Mae Quinto is a scene stealer in "I.T.A.L.Y."
Rufa Mae Quinto invited her Hong Kong-based boyfriend Bobby Lopez to attend the premiere night of the movie “I.T.A.L.Y.” (I Trust and Love You” from GMA Films) held last Sunday at SM Megamall. But she didn’t ask him to attend the presscon of the movie that was held prior to the premiere showing of the Mark Reyes film.
“Nahihiya ako na papuntahin siya kasi presscon ito,” said Rufa Mae when we got to talk her last Sunday at Italiani’s Restaurant in SM Megamall where the presscon was held. But also present at the presscon was Atty. Bebong Munoz, the boyfriend of Jolina Magdangal, who did a cameo appearance in the film. So we told Peachy (Rufa Mae’s nickname) that it was alright if Bobby also went to the affair.
The actress-comedienne even told us that Bobby didn’t know that she’s a movie star in the Philippines so she fears he might get the shock of his life once the cameras are focused on them.
We told her that she should have told Bobby that she’s an actress so he won’t get “culture shock” what with the attention that will surely be given to her and him once the press and the public see them together.
We’re not sure if Bobby made it to the premiere although Rufa Mae said he was on his way. But if he did come, he would surely be overwhelmed with the attention accorded to Rufa Mae and the rest of the cast of “I.T.A.L.Y” who were present that night.
The cast came in full force. Dennis Trillo, Mark Herrras, Rhian Ramos, Eugene Domingo and Jolina Magdanga were in attendance. The premiere was also graced by the presence of several GMA Kapuso stars like Dingdong Dantes, Iza Calzado, and Raymond Gutierrez. Of course, there was direk Mark Reyes who came up with an entertaining film from the script written by Senedy Que.
Rufa Mae was a scene stealer in her role as a torch singer in the luxury ship because of her many funny moments. And who wouldn’t be amused of a singer who only knows one song and she sings it every night—“Ocean Deep,” with hilarious gestures and all.
Also getting a good number of funny scenes and even her share of dramatic moments was Eugene Domingo. It was one very entertaining movie. We hope it makes money.
“I.T.A.L.Y.” (I Trust and Love You)” opens today in theaters nationwide.

Opening in theaters on September 24 is the movie “Room 213” that stars Allen Dizon and Gwen Garcia, and also featuring Tyrone Perez and Maricar dela Fuente.
This was written and directed by Keith Sicar, a Filipino filmmaker, photographer, and painter based in New York who has settled and is working in Manila. Among movies he has directed was “Rigodon” (released in 2005) which won the Best Feature Film Award at the 8th International Panorama of Independent Film and Video
The story idea of “Room 213” is a relationship is based on trust and trust is fragile.
Secrets are bound to be revealed, your past is there to haunt you and playing with the emotions is dangerous.
The film is rather hard to understand because of the non-linear approach used by the director to convey the message. Be the judge when you watch “Room 213.”

“A Very Special Love,” starring Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz is a certified box-office hit. Star Cinema has stumbled on a winning combination in the Sarah and John Lloyd tandem. Nobody gave the tandem much chance but it proved the skeptics wrong. Star Cinema is definitely happy what with the good fortune amassed at the box-office by “A Very Special Love.”
Now the people are eagerly waiting as to what is Star Cinema’s next project for Sarah and John Lloyd, that is, if John Lloyd would get the second crack as Sarah’s leading man. But a Sarah defender said the singer is capable of being a box-office star even if she would be paired with other actors.
“Kahit na sino pa ang ipareha kay Sarah, tiyak na kikita. Si Sarah ang tipo ng artista na hindi namimili ng leading man. Kahit na si Piolo Pascual ang iparnert mo sa kanya, maganda pa rin ang chemistry nila.,” said the Sarah defender.
At any rate, now out in the market is the new album of Sarah titled “Just Me” which was launched last Sunday at ASAP ’08. The album features Sarah’s duet with Howie Dorough titled “I Will Be There.” In case you’ve forgotten, Howie Dorough is one of the members of the famed boyband Backstreet Boys. She’s also preparing for her big concert at the Araneta Coliseum on November 8 titled “The Next One.”
