John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo share a very special love
Lovable girl + Unlovable guy = A very special love.
From their Maalala Mo Kaya love team up, John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo meets again for Star Cinema’s 15th anniversary movie presentation, A Very Special Love, directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
In a press release, the movie is a romantic-comedy film which talks about Laida Magtalas (Sarah Geronimo) who is a fresh graduate and applies for a job in a magazine publishing company owned by Miggy
Sarah admits that portraying her role as Laida was a breeze.
“Hindi mahirap intindihin kasi hindi complicated ang character niya. Happy-go-lucky siya and nagdadala siya ng saya sa pamilya at sa lahat.”
Having worked with John Lloyd during their previous MMK project, Sarah says that working with John Lloyd was easy. However, it was only during this movie where she got to know John Lloyd.
“Mas komportable na po ako sa kanya ngayon,” she says. “Nakay John Lloyd na nga and mga characteristics na hinahanap ko sa isang guy” she continues.
With her first movie team-up with John Lloyd, Sarah is excited. However, she admits that she feels pressures with the expectations from the audience, most especially since the movie isn’t the usual John Lloyd-Bea love team. But then, Sarah is happy with what they had come up with and hopes that the movie would also be very special to the audience.
On the other hand, John Lloyd is very happy for having been given the chance to work with Sarah Geronimo. Working with her was easy, he said.
“Natural kasi itong si Sarah. Kahit anong gawin niya, ginagawa niya with grace. Tapos, ‘yung passion, kitang-kita talaga,” he smiles.
John Lloyd knows how much the audience loved their team-up with Bea Alonzo. But John Lloyd guarantees them that in this movie, he and Sarah are going to give them something different.
For John Lloyd, Sarah is different. “Yung outlook niya in life, very virginal -- innocent, pure. ‘Yung intentions niya pure and true. Bihira ka na makakilala ng mga babae na ganon ngayon.”
This is why John Lloyd hopes that their friendship would continue even after the movie. He saw Sarah more than just a co-artist and would not want their friendship to end.
The movie, A Very Special Love employs a Koreanovela-concept of love story as it talks about the excessive love of Laida toward Miggy.
“The nice thing about Star Cinema is that their concepts are very now. Sumasabay sa pagbabago ng mundo pero ‘yung pagka-core ng Filipina andun pa rin. Itinuturo din sa atin kung kaya pa ba nating maniwala sa mga love fairy tales,” John Lloyd explains.
Sarah emphasizes one of the Filipino values inculcated in the movie: “Love for family. Hindi lang puro pag-ibig sa iba. ‘Yung pamilya pa rin ang priority.”
In the press conference held last Friday at the
“You’re not like the rest. I know you’re one of the best.”
Catch “A Very Special Love” on July 30 in theaters nationwide.
