Melophobic launches debut album tonight

-

Don't let the name fool you. Melophobic is far and beyond from being afraid to rock their anthems out to Cebu and the rest of the country as they prepare to take it by storm with the launch of their debut album entitled "Defiance" tonight at 9 pm at the Outpost in Nivel Hills.

A staple in the local rock scene since 2005, the youthful band prides itself in being able to deliver intense rock riffs and crescendos peppered with profound lyrics penned by the members themselves, namely Nimrod Ordonez on vocals, Joel Ong and RS Ybanez on guitars, RJ Baniel on bass guitar and Bambi Corro on drums.

Being in the shadow of such established Cebuano rock acts Urbandub and Faspitch is no easy feat but the group has more than held their own, building their own unique following on account of their varied individual resumes and musical landscapes from former bands No Anonymous Child, Yesteryear, WTC11 and the ska outfit Skunky Muggles.

However, what gives Melophobic its kick and unique sound is their sweet-sounding melody integrated into their high-intensity rock tunes, which they fearlessly showcase in "Defiance," most notably on the tracks "A Taste of Wine," "On The Line" and "Will of Her Own."

The crescendo that has slowly been building up since 2005 will explode into a full-blown rock frenzy this evening as Melophobic finally shouts out their defiance to the norm with their long-awaited debut album. Joining them in the celebration are Picturefilled, Pelican Street, Detached, Sinfilled, Zero Delay and Still.

Admission is free and CDs and band shirts are sold at special prices at the venue.
