Before going solo, singer-songwriter Richard Poon released two albums under Viva Record as vocalist and guitarist of the acoustic band U-Turn. In the four years of the group’s career, they were able to release the singles “It’s You” and “Make it Real.”
Aside from singing and playing guitars, Richard also writes songs, four cuts of which have been included in the first U-Turn album. His original composition of “LaLaLa” was also sung by Asia’s songbird Regine Velasquez and Piolo Pascual in their hit movie “Paano Kita Iibigin.”
Richard also composed a song entitled “Turuan Mo Ako” for Piolo Pascual’s album.
Now as he embarked on a solo career, his repertoire is dominated by great musical works from Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick, and Tony Bennett. Most of his songs are emotional, making people reflect about their inner feelings.
Catch Richard Poon live at the Northwing in SM City Cebu on May 31 at 7PM and enjoy the songs as he brings back the timeless classics in a new and refreshing way.
