Favorite leading man Aga Muhlach, together with Anne Curtis, touted as one of Philippine showbiz’s loveliest, breezed into town recently to promote their first-ever film together, “When Love Begins.”
“When Love Begins” is Aga’s movie project for 2008. Aga, who was last seen in last year’s “A Love Story,” usually does movies only once a year. For Anne’s part, the film spelled a major step for her as she has always concentrated on television work and has never headlined a movie, apart from the fact that this is the first occasion she gets paired with Aga, with whom, as she unabashedly claimed, she has long wanted to work with.
Their entire visit buzzed with excitement as the moment the two arrived at the Mactan Cebu International Airport, they were mobbed by airport staff, fellow passengers, and greeters waiting outside the airport.
Their April 25 itinerary included a presscon at the chic Pino Restaurant in Lahug which was attended by members from the print and radio media, a taped interview for ABS-CBN Cebu’s “MAGTV Na” as well as a mall tour at SM City Cebu. According to Josie Pereyra, who handles Star Cinema promotional tours, their Cebu visit was their first and only regional stop.
Now showing in theaters nationwide, “When Love Begins”—a joint production of Star Cinema and Viva Films—premiered last April 30, Wednesday, and according to a web report on the Philippine Entertainment Portal, the box-office receipts of the film’s opening day alone reached P10 million. —NMT
