“Survivor” in Camarines Sur?

-

The latest edition of the widely popular American reality TV game show “Survivor” is reportedly shooting in a beach in the Caramoan Peninsula of the Bicol Province, Camarines Sur, according to web reports and blogs of locals.

The Philippine Entertainment Portal reported that tourists and even celebrities were prohibited from entering the Gota Beach in the Caramoan Peninsula during the recently-concluded Holy Week because the 17th edition of “Survivor” was shooting episodes there.

The Gota Beach is just one of the virgin beaches of the peninsula—one of the National Parks of the Philippines—which is fast-gaining popularity among tourists in recent years. The Gota Beach, according to Tanyeen.com, a site maintained by Bicolano bloggers, boasts of a fine white sand beach beside majestic limestone rock formations.

Tanyeen.com posted, “You won’t regret spending your Holy Week there. Such a great place to be… As of now, SURVIVOR cast members are occupying some islands for their latest edition.”

Meanwhile, being aired on US television right now is the 16th season of “Survivor” which was taped in Micronesia. Hosted by Jeff Probst, “Survivor” is being produced by Mark Burnett, who’s also behind “Who wants to be a Millionaire?”.

“Survivor” is based on the concept of stranding strangers in a remote location. “Survivor” has been shot around the world since its first season, mostly favoring warm, tropical climates. Among Southeast Asian nations, “Survivor” has already filmed in Malaysia (2000) and Thailand (2002).
