'Bubble Gang' beats 'Maalaala Mo Kaya'
GMA 7's long-running gag show “Bubble Gang” beats “Maalaala Mo Kaya” in the ratings. Ogie Alcasid, one of the mainstays of the gag show, put one over his sweetheart, Regine Velasquez who headlined the special episode of MMK last Friday.
"Bubble Gang" got a rating of 20% while MMK got only a rating of 13.4%. We wonder how Ogie feels that BG beat MMK, with Regine playing the lead role in the drama anthology.
We have yet to read a review with regards to Regine’s performance in MMK. And the people were not talking about it either.
In contrast, it’s been more than a week since KC Concepcion’s maiden acting appearance in MMK, yet we continue to read reviews and reactions on Sharon Cuneta’s daughter.
Here’s one comment we saw on the Internet (sent by [email protected]).
“KC Concepcion's debut as an actress in 'Ang Tahanan' episode of 'Maalaala Mo Kaya' shows that she has inherited the acting talents of her parents, actress Sharon Cuneta and former actor Gabby Concepcion.
As the guilt-stricken daughter who had to learn how to survive when her father died in a vehicular accident, KC Concepcion imbued her character with integrity. Born with the proverbial silver spoon in real life, KC Concepcion was believable as the spoiled daughter of a construction magnate. Her four-year stay in
KC Concepcion's acting was never wooden or tentative as could be expected from a novice actress. She could give more established or seasoned actors a run for their money if she is given more assignments to sharpen her acting skills.”
JC de Vera newest Bench endorser
Young actor JC de Vera is one of newest endorsers of Bench and his billboard can now be seen along EDSA. He signed a one-year contract with the clothing company. But JC says he’s not going to pose for a billboard in his underwear.
“Hindi pa ako handa kaya sa t-shirt na lang muna ako,” says JC. He just smiled when told that many people would surely wait and would want to see him in a billboard in his underwear.
JC is in the cast of the TV remake of “Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita” where he plays the role originally played onscreen by Bembol Roco. He was supposed to play Christopher de Leon’s role in the movie version.
“Ang sabi po nila, mas matanda ang role ni Christopher doon kasi he’s a politician. Tapos sa character plot ni Bembol, he’s supposed to be only 20. Kaya ‘yun ang ibinigay na role sa akin. May mga acting highlights din naman po ako. Pero inilagay nila ang karakter ko sa umpisa kasi sa movie version medyo nasa middle part na when Bembol’s character appeared,” relates JC who was in the cast of the box-office hit movie “My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend.”
They have taped for two weeks already, in time for the airing of the new series starting March 24.
“Babangon Ako at Dudurugin Kita” reunites JC with Yasmien Kurdi. So what’s new with this project that sets it apart from their past projects together? “I think the character of Yas is more intense. With regards to my character, parang bumalik ako sa pagiging bagets kasi. Kay Yas lang ang mas mature ang karakter ko. Ako mas bata pa rin,” says JC.
Toni: Working with Sam a breeze
Toni Gonzaga denies that her boyfriend Paul Soriano would visit her on the set of “My Big Love” and would make bantay ('keep watch'). “That’s not true. May freedom kami sa isa’t-isa when it comes to our respective work. Yes, he did visit me on the set but it was just one occasion. And the reason he came there was not to make bantay,” the singer-actress says in defense of her boyfriend.
Anyway, Toni is reunited with Sam Milby in “My Big Love” under Star Cinema, with Kristine Hermosa as co-star under the direction of Jade Castro. The past movies of Sam and Toni, namely, “You Are the One” and “You Got Me” both did very well at the box-office so Star Cinema thought of bringing back the successful tandem.
Since this is their time to work together, Toni says it’s a breeze working with Sam. “We have more fun on the set because we understand each other more and we are more comfortable. With just one look at each other, we already knew (Sam and I) what to do. Working with Kristine is a revelation. We only used to work in ASAP but we bonded well in the movie.
“Our director, Jade Castro, may be young but I am happy working with him because he’s easy to work. And he’s very intense as a director. I love it.”
She hopes that their fans would support “My Big Love” in the same way that they supported the first two movies that she and Sam did. “I swear they won’t be disappointed in this movie. It’s full of lessons, full of love and full of surprises. It’s worth the long wait,” says Toni.
“My Big Love” opens in theaters nationwide today, February 27.
