Kim Chiu-Gerald Anderson teleserye airs in Taiwan

-

Now re-titled as “Chances,” last year’s Filipino drama series “Sana Maulit Muli” starring Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu premiered Monday in Taiwan, home of the phenomenal F4 and the “Meteor Garden” series.

In the website Taiwan Public Television Service, Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson are featured prominently plus the background of the story and cast plus a forum about the program.

The premiere of the show was also tagged as an “international day of love.” The show was described in Taiwanese as a quality drama and Philippines’ most popular show in 2007. The TV series, which is dubbed in Mandarin, will run for three weeks only until March 7.

The question now is: will the Taiwanese people embrace “Chances” as enthusiastically as Pinoys embrace the F4 and the “Meteor Garden” series? So big a hit the all-male group, F4, which headlined “Meteor Garden,” became in the country that they held different, but equally fully-packed, concerts in the country some years back, beginning in 2003.

“Sana Maulit Muli” was the TV soap that gave birth to the Kimerald teen loveteam—a tandem that has since become a household name, spawning movies as well as securing endorsement deals. Both Kim Chiu (of Cebu) and Gerald Anderson (of General Santos) were discovered via the reality TV show “Pinoy Big Brother” Teen Edition.

“Chances” also uses the theme song, “Sana Maulit Muli,” composed and sang by Gary Valenciano.

Prior to “Sana Maulit Muli,” ABS-CBN has had TV series aired overseas such as “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” starring Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa which became a big hit in Malaysia, Indonesia and in some parts of Africa.
