Robin Padilla, one proud father

- Ricky L. Calderon -

PLUS: It’s the box-office tandem again of Sam Milby and Toni Gonzaga, plus Kristine Hermosa, in “My Big Love”; Rachelle Ann Go had ‘dreamed’ of split with ex-beau Christian Bautista; Mo Twister denies romance with fellow DJ

After his explosive adventures in “Asian Treasures,” first-rate action star Robin Padilla is back in GMA-7 via Carlo J. Caparas’s “Joaquin Bordado,” an action-adventure series. Robin says he has been waiting for so long to do a Carlo J. Caparas project and he considers it an honor to headline “Joaquin Bordado.”

“I am thankful to GMA because they gave us everything that we asked for to make sure this project will be a good one,” says Robin.

“Direk Carlo and I had long wanted to collaborate on a project. This is certainly a good follow-up to “Asian Treasures,” he adds at the press launch of “Joaquin Bordado” at the Studio 3 of the Kapuso network.

The full support of the network for the new TV series is very obvious. The press presentation was very impressive. Before the entire cast was presented to the media, a special production number was done by Kylie Padilla, the 15-year-old daughter of Robin.

Kylie showed her expertise in dance, martial arts and flying-on-air while strapped on a harness. In fairness, the young Kylie gave an impressive performance that drew cheers and claps from the press.

Of course, Robin was a picture of a proud daddy. Does this mean that Kylie is sure to enter showbiz? And would Robin support her all the way?

“Nasa kanya yun, e, kasi hindi naman ako ang may gusto niyan. Lahat ng mga anak ko na gustong mag-artista, gusto nila ‘yon, ako, sumusuporta lang. May blessings ko sila. Hindi ko sila pipigilan for as long as nag-e-enjoy sila sa kanilang ginagawa. Right now, hindi ko pa muna pinapakausap sa press si Kylie kasi gusto ko pang matuto siyang mag-Tagalog para mai-express niya ng mabuti ang kanyang sarili,” says Robin.

“Joaquin Bordado” premieres on Monday, February 11, at the GMA 7 telebabad block, replacing “Zaido” which ends tonight.

“My Big Love” is a beautiful movie, light and romantic. Directed by Jade Castro, who helmed the critically-acclaimed indie film “Endo,” the movie is innovative and this will definitely make every couple and every family’s movie viewing experience worthwhile.

Mornings have never been the same since “Today’s best Music” Magic 89.9 introduced its uncanny powerhouse morning show “Good Times” with DJs Mo Twister, Andi-9 and Mojo Jojo!

In just over a year, this talented trio has broken ratings records and made history as the reigning pop FM program in the country.

Now broadcast nationwide via 89.9’s Killerbee provincial affiliates, “Good Times” has amassed unprecedented listenership that other radio shows can only dream of. With their off-the-wall games, contests and conversations like “Ang Yabang Mo,” “Gay or Straight,” “Cute Boy Alert,” and of course, “Forbidden Questions,” Good Times has undoubtedly become a Philippine phenomenon.

“Good Times” juts got even better as this unstoppable team takes its antics to the television screens. Magic 89.9 and Studio 23 are proud to announce the launch of “Good times with Mo, Mojo, Andi & Grace.” Reinventing their radio humor for TV audiences, “Good Times with Mo, Mojo, Andi & Grace” is poised to take over TV sets all over the Philippines starting February 26.

Mo Twister serves as the captain of this widely followed motley crew. Though short in stature, DJ Mo has one of the biggest voices in the business. With his acerbic wit and skewed take on everyday things, Mo is an agitator that you just can’t help listen to. He has the guts to ask the questions no one dares to think of. Undeniably one of the most recognizable personalities in the entertainment industry, from radio and on the boob tube, Mo is aptly dubbed showbiz’s “Mr. Controversial.”

He is rumored to be playing sweet music with Andi-9 but Mo was quick to douse the speculations. “We’re not a couple. We are not girlfriend-boyfriend. However, if at any point, I find the time or the opportunity, I am not saying there is a list of girls that I’d like to pursue, but on my list, Andi would be on top of the list if there’s someone I’d like to pursue,” says DJ Mo.

“I don’t like to feel showbiz. I don’t really feel the celebrity side of my job. Anyway, I have no other way but to tell you the truth that Andi and I are not together. I don’t really have the time. I think it would be a terrible relationship, considering the time that we have,” he explains further.

Rachelle Ann Go was not aware that her ex-boyfriend Christian Bautista issued a press statement to a broadsheet columnist that they have parted ways. She was surprised when she heard about it. That’s why when she was asked regarding their breakup, Rachelle just followed whatever was stated in her ex-bf’s press statement.

She says that she felt somehow that their relationship was headed for a split-up since even in her dreams, she was seeing signs pointing to a breakup. She didn’t know how to interpret her dreams but that is what her dreams have told her.

Rachelle also couldn’t explain why their relationship failed. There was no third party involved and they didn’t have a big fight that could lead to a failed romance. Besides, contrary to the belief of many, they didn’t break up for the sake of their careers. They wouldn’t do such a thing just to make their careers shine.

But even if Rachelle and Christian are no longer an item, they still work together. They are a part of Viva Records and ASAP Live’s Valentine Concert “Ol 4 Luv” together with Sarah Geronimo and Erik Santos giving their all on February 13, Wednesday, 8pm at the Big Dome (Araneta Coliseum). Also joining are special guests stand-up comedian Pooh and sizzling dance group G-Force. Bring your date and loved ones to this special valentine concert and get ready to swoon and fall in love once more!

For inquiries and ticket information, contact Araneta Colisuem or Ticket Net branches, at telephone number 911-5555 for details. Special thanks to Bello, Bed Head and Metro Bar for helping make this event possible.

Andrew Schimmer, first runner-up at the Slimmer’s World Great Bodies competition, is busy doing several projects. He’s in the cast of “Ikaw Pa Rin,” the first team-up of Robin Padilla and Ms. Ai Ai de las Alas under Viva Films. He plays one of the best friends of Robin (the other is DJ Durano) in the film directed by Wenn Deramas.

He’s also playing one of the lead roles in “Torotot” the digital film that Maryo J. Delos Reyes is doing for Viva Films. This also stars Maui Taylor and Yul Servo. He plays an important role as the conflict starts because of him.
