For more than three decades now, the Guild has been true to its commitment and mission to propagate Cebuano culture through informative and educational stage plays. For its latest presentation, USC-TG will immortalize two stage plays that depict realities in life, collectively dubbed as DOS POR DOS (Dalawang Dula Ukol sa Dalawang Mukha ng Buhay at Pag-ibig). The said plays are Bubungang-Lata (Carlos Palanca Awardee 1975) written by Atty. Agapito M. Joaquin and Aling Poleng (Carlos Palanca Awardee 1974) written by Deogracias Tigno Jr. These one-act plays are about the trials of married life, the sanctity of marriage and the Filipino family. The play is directed by USC-TG’s homegrown talent, Loyd Wilson Sato. “Dos por Dos” will be staged on December 1 and 2 at SM City Cebu’s Cinema One.
“We decided to come up with plays for the month of December that will speak not only of the truths in life, but will give an alternative view on love and family relations, especially as we celebrate this year’s Christmas season,” said Laarni Maglasang, the production manager of “Dos Por Dos,” which also serves as the Guild’s comeback vehicle to the stage after a semester-long hiatus.
The Guild promises that “Dos Por Dos” will surely touch the hearts of its audiences, young and old alike, as it offers entertainment value and an out-of-the-classroom learning experience. The Guild also invites everyone to watch “Dos Por Dos” so as to help in the promotion and preservation of Cebuano arts and culture, as well as revive the “latent atmosphere of innovative Cebuano theatre.”
