Drawn-out battle no more as Cristine, Carlene bury hatchet

SHOWBIZ DRIBBLE - Salve V. Asis -

They were like two cats ready to mix it up with fangs and claws. But last week actress Cristine Reyes and beauty queen Carlene Aguilar finally put an end to their very steamy altercation.

On Friday the lawyer of Cristine announced that the actress and the Bb. Pilipinas titlist had decided to forgive and forget.

The lawyer, Dexter Laquanan, said the two had a reconciliatory meeting shortly after Carlene was interviewed on ABS-CBN’s The Buzz last Sunday. “I’m really happy to announce that both parties have decided to settle their differences in the best possible terms. Both of them came out winners,” Laquanan said.

According to Tita Cristy Fermin said the truce talks took place at the Rembrandt Hotel in Quezon City.

Cristine and Carlene agreed it was all a misunderstanding, the lawyer continued.

Now that the two have buried the hatchet, Cristine is ready to withdraw the slander complaint she filed against Carlene. Then, hopefully, the bad blood will fade away.

But what a squabble it was! The showbiz community was eagerly anticipating a drawn-out battle, full of juicy revelations and wild brickbats. Oh well…

The sparks began to fly when the actress confronted Carlene about her relationship with actor Dennis Trillo, who had admitted having a love child with Carlene.

Carlene reportedly followed Cristine to a dressing room in Broadway Centrum where she told her that Dennis wasn’t serious with Cristine and that he was only interested in her body.

Cristine was vexed enough to bring charges against Carlene.

In The Buzz, Carlene confirmed that she and Dennis were on for five years and that she indeed had a child with him. She further revealed that she agreed to cool off in the US for Dennis’ sake.

Carlene however was mum about what she told Cristine in Broadway Centrum. “I took the initiative to introduce myself to her. I shook her hand and introduced myself. Then I whispered something to her. I don’t want to elaborate on what I whispered to her because it’s private. Then we left,” she said.

She admitted she was pissed by reports that Dennis was having a fling with Cristine. She got more pissed when Cristine demanded an apology.

“Do you think private conversations, a whisper, an exchange of text messages between two parties merit a public apology?” Carlene asked.

Ethel Booba and Mcoy decided last week to leave Pinoy Big Brother’s house and their exit was not as graceful as they would have wanted it to be.

Ethel said she was confused about the status of one of the housemates, Mariel. Was she a guest housemate or a regular one? That caused quite a stir in the Big Brother’s abode. In the end, the comedian said she was calling it quits.

Interviewed a day after her eviction, Ethel said she couldn’t stand being away from her man. Then the stand-up comedian was back in her old haunt, a comedy club in Quezon City. The thing that she’ll cherish about her stint as a PBB housemate was that she learned discipline.

The issue was more complicated with Mcoy. The “Musikerong Daddy” did not like Kuya’s insinuation that the plot of the script he wrote for a short film docu shot by the housemates for their weekly task was strikingly similar to that of a book.

Mcoy was understandably sensitive. He and his former band mates were accused of plagiarizing the song, “Pinoy Ako.” If the song’s title sounds familiar, it’s the theme song of Pinoy Big Brother.

Kuya managed to appease Mcoy for the moment, but it seems the musician never forgot the slight.

Things were never the same for the musician after that one-on-one with Kuya.

Heather Mills McCartney, the ex-wife of Beatle Paul McCartney, has lashed out at the rich people of the world, saying they are insufferable misers and snobs.

The moneyed set is the latest target of Mill’s McCartney’s ire. The former model has ranted against British tabloids, claiming they were ganging up on her after she split with Paul. More recently, she fired her lawyers and press agent after they advised her to be less hostile while the divorce was being settled.

“These people who have lots of money, they’re either snobby or they’re stingy. If you have lots of money, you have to be stingy – because why would you want that amount of money?’’ Mills McCartney told a debating society in England.

The two married in 2002 and had a daughter, Beatrice, a year later. They separated last year, and McCartney filed for divorce alleging that his wife was behaving unreasonably.

There are reports that Paul has offered Heather $50 million as settlement, but she wants twice that.
