Kris Aquino plays matchmaker for brother Sen. Noynoy

- Ricky L. Calderon -

Is it true that Angel Locsin failed the entrance test she took in the London school where she plans to take up her course in fashion designing? That’s why her manager Becky Aguila is saying now that there’s no need for her to take the entrance test because she’s only taking a crash course.

According to grapevine sources, Angel would only be taking the course for one week, unlike the earlier pronouncement that she's taking it for two months. So, there must be truth to the rumor she failed the test.

While Angel’s camp has denied reports that she's transferring to ABS-CBN, we learned from a source that the lawyer of ABS-CBN has been furnished a copy of Angel’s contract with GMA 7. Our source adds that the lawyer noted some stipulations in Angel’s contract that prevent her from transferring to another network without obtaining release papers from GMA 7. That’s why the lawyer told Angel's camp that they ought to obtain a release paper from the Kapuso network.

Angel’s camp denies they are transferring to Channel 2 nor initiating talks with the Kapamilya network. But if they really didn’t have plans of moving to the rival network, why did they furnish the ABS-CBN lawyer a copy of their GMA contract?

It’s all systems go for the reunion movie of Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla under GMA Films. The megastar and the action superstar met with the executives of GMA Films namely Annette Gozon-Abrogar, Joey Abacan and Noel Ferrer at the Shangri-la Hotel in Makati City last Thursday, July 5.

Sharon and Robin’s last movie was “Pagdating ng Panahon” produced by Viva Films in 2001. The two are very excited on their return teamup in the still untitled movie that is due for release early 2008.

Jose Javier Reyes, who will direct the movie, was unable to attend the story conference because he still has some fine tuning to do with the script. He sent word that he will just meet separately with Sharon and Robin to discuss the script. But a casting had already been planned and they are hopeful that they’d be able to avail of the services of the stars they want to feature in this Sharon-Robin project.

According to a source, the meeting started at 11 p.m. and ended at 3 a.m. the next day because of the animated kuwentuhan of Sharon and Robin. The GMA executives were reportedly amazed but pleasantly surprised of the closeness displayed by the megastar and the bad-boy-turned-good boy.

According to Sharon, she will finish first her movie under Star Cinema that will be directed by Chito Roño to be shot in London. Filming will start in September and they might stay in London for three weeks. Direk Chito has yet to finish work on a previous project while Sharon has to tape episodes for her talk show. She was unable to tape when she got indisposed. Now, she has to tape everyday because all their episodes in the can had been aired already.

Sharon had an infection inside the walls of her cheek. She has this unusual trait of biting the insides of her cheeks whenever she’s stressed. This resulted to an abrasion that led into an infection. This was the reason why Sharon’s face was swollen when she attended the victory party of her husband Sen. Kiko Pangilinan two weeks ago.

TV actress and favorite young kontrabida Gladys Reyes is saddened with the untimely axing of the sitcom “Bahay Mo Ba ‘To.” She said she will miss her co-stars. What saddens her more was that the whole cast was unable to say goodbye to each other. They weren’t informed beforehand that their last taping day for “Bahay Mo Ba ‘To”  was their last.

The show was reportedly on a break because one of its cast members, Tessie Tomas, went on vacation. Little did they know that they won’t have taping the following week because the show had been cancelled.

Gladys says a show can be replaced anytime but that camaraderie that they developed in the “Bahay Mo Ba ‘To” is irreplaceable.

“We’re like a family and reporting on the set doesn’t seem like work. Para lang kasi kami nag-outing sa set at kumain ng masarap na tanghalian. At saka ang sarap ng schedule namin. Start ang taping ng 1 p.m. tapos minsan before midnight tapos na kami. Minsan mas maaga pa kami natatapos,” she says.

Gladys will surely miss the cast of her old sitcom in the next few months (or until the next time they are brought together in another project). She has, however, a new show. She’s part of the cast of “Tasya Fantasya” where she plays the good friend of Nadine Samonte. Also in the cast of “Tasya Fantasya” is Wendell Ramos, who played her husband in the soon-to-be-axed  “Bahay Mo Ba ‘To.”

The six-year-old morning talk show “Sis” is facing a new formidable opposition, the new talk show of Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino titled “Boy & Kris.” But Louie Ignacio, the director of “Sis,” is confident that despite going up against Boy and Kris, “Sis” will still have enough punch to face the odds.

“We will still do what we we’ve been doing in the past. We won’t change anything because we feel our viewers like what we’ve been giving them, the formula that we’ve been using works and there’s no need to change it,” says Direk Louie in a text message.

“And most of all, I have firm belief in my hosts Carmina Villaroel, Janice de Belen, Gelli de Belen and my very creative staff. Six years na ang ‘SIS’ and we are the longest running morning talk show. Marami na ang naitapat sa amin pero we’re still here.”

Newly elected Senator Noynoy Aquino is loveless so his youngest sister Kris Aquino wants to look for a partner for him. When Kris and James went to Boracay recently, Kris met a beautiful and sexy opthalmologist based in Harvard who was also in vacation in Boracay.

“She’s very sexy and pretty. The girl’s brother is a friend of James so I told her I will introduce you to my brother when you get back from Harvard. When I told Noynoy about her, he said it’s okay. If he has a girlfriend I guess he won’t say okay,” reveals Kris at the  presscon of her new ABS-CBN talk show with Boy Abunda titled “Boy & Kris.”

Kris is excited to be back hosting in the morning slot. And to be reunited with her good friend Boy after she gave up her hosting chores in “The Buzz.”

“Our bosses in ABS-CBN said that Boy and I should be together in a talk show that not only talks about showbiz. At least, with our new show, we can talk about other matters and a wide range of topics from politics, to health, even food matters,” adds Kris.

“Besides, my partnership with Boy takes on many forms. First of all, there is the work partnership pero in different levels. Work because we work in front of the camera. Then we are principal investors in Roberto Antonio, an advertising agency, which we both invested together,” Kris explains. “On the third level, Boy handles several of my endorsements. He acts as my manager.”
