Going strongly into its third year, Cebu’s favorite talk show remains on top of the ratings game and in the hearts of the Cebuanos and the rest of Central Visayas.
For its ninth season, host Jude Bacalso dishes out his signature brand of infotainment, a total package of humorous, unbridled, and candid interviews and well-researched facts that strike close to the heart of the intelligent Visayan viewer. Every Sunday, way past their 100th episode, the show continues to deal with topics that appeal to a mass audience.
What began as a small segment on another award-winning show, Chikahay Ta!, is now easily the most influential and widely-watched program on homegrown television. At Year Second, the show celebrated many Firsts: the first local program to film an entire episode abroad (Jud Morning in China!), first to be allowed to film and interview at a personal level influential personalities (Mayor Tommy Osmeña, Gov. Gwen Garcia, Leo Lastimosa); producing it’s highly-anticipated travelogues (Cagayan de Oro, Dumaguete and Iloilo), and the first stop for visiting celebrities.
How did Jud Morning! get there? The show anchors itself on delivering themes that appeal to a niche audience: the Visayan-speaking housewife, regardless of household income. Unpredictably, the show’s appeal snowballed into a whole range of viewers, raking in unparalleled viewership in terms of sheer number and variety, cementing its unique crossover appeal.
A loyal band of Jud Morning! Girls, a hundred viewers entered into a consolidated database illustrate the diversity of the show’s loyal following. On top of that, it enjoys a worldwide audience on The Filipino Channel, who look to the show for updates on local goings-on.
Moreover, Jud Morning! gives back generously to its viewership, spawning such worthy projects as Jud Morning Bazaar showcasing small-scale home businesses begun by viewers, and spearheading a hugely successful educational outreach program via a book-donation campaign to aid far-flung schools.
After two years, the show has become a conduit for good business, the right information, light Sunday entertainment, and service to our silingan, the neighbors in this shared community. For the last two Sundays of May, Jud Morning! airs live the anniversary celebration, kicking it off with a telecast today (May 20, 2007 at 10:45 a.m. on ABS-CBN) from Paseo, the new vortex of Cebuano lifestyle and entertainment at F. Cabahug St. Mabolo. Jud Morning! looks towards scaling greater heights in its third year, breaking more boundaries in local television and continuously becoming the best evidence that lahi ang Cebuano, silingan, kay world-class kita!
