Mum, sister and boyfriend - to Dionne''s rescue
April 14, 2007 | 12:00am
"I still love her," Dawn Mantilla speaks for the time about the issues hounding his girlfriend, Dionne. "I do have some questions about what''s happening, but I trust her."
These past few days, Pinoy Big Brother''s Lovable Sweetheart has fallen yet again for another housemate-Mickey. Having dreamt of him for several nights, Dionne has started to feel something different towards Mickey.
Now that Zeke is out of the house, people thought Dionne had learned her lessons already. She once grabbed (negative) attention because of her supposed "flirtatious moves" with Zeke. But with the seeming interest in Mickey, will viewers then be seeing a repeat of what had happened with Zeke?
"What''s wrong with having crushes?" her mom, Dulce Siroy, starts. "Flirting has been defined as excessive show of affection. So what''s wrong? Even small kids are masters in flirting.
"Basically, she''s misunderstood. For the past 21 years, she was never accused of being a flirt, not until now. It''s the first time that she is away from me and she must be undergoing an emotional roller coaster. She was kept in a hotel for two weeks, thrown into a house of strangers and even before she could adjust, she was given the most difficult task," Mommy Dulce explains.
Dionne''s actions have given rise to various reactions from the audience. They either stand up to her defense or condemn her. One thing''s for sure though, these reactions have affected Dionne''s family much.
Dionne''s eldest sister Aileen Siroy worries for her mom a lot because "she gets hurt when she hears bad things [said] about Dionne. Also, since that controversial sunblock issue came out, a few friends turned their backs on us. But we''re thankful that a lot remained and came to our side."
"It saddens me because of how she is being projected. I want so much to hug her and assure her. I feel so helpless-I cry," Mommy Dulce shares, adding that she has managed to cope up through prayers.
As for Aileen, she doesn''t mind all these. "I just smile and laugh off their negative comments. I realized these people who have thrown unkind words are really sad people. They have to be mean to others to feel good about themselves."
Mommy Dulce thinks "bashers are judgmental people. They don''t have anything good to say about anybody. They''re just envious. They don''t know the real Dionne."
So, who''s the real Dionne?
Boyfriend Dawn attests that "Dionne as a girlfriend is very okay. We enjoy each other''s company, especially when we go out. Kiat man pud gud toh! She always cares for me and I know she loves me."
"Dionne as a sister is very thoughtful and grateful. She texts me almost everyday to tell me she loves me and that she misses me. She also thanks me for everything I have done for her," Aileen shares.
Mommy Dulce testifies, "D is very thoughtful, considerate, generous and malambing. She goes out of her way to please me. She even shares the money she receives during hostings and pageants."
Weeks ago, Dionne managed to survive the 2nd Elimination Night. Through the slim point-something percentage of chance, Dionne stays in the game.
But Dionne can''t totally be happy because she has been automatically nominated, alongside with Gee-an, Bodie and Kian. Now that it''s her second time to be thrust in the hotseat, will she be able to pull this off?
Aileen admits, "There''s no telling if she''ll survive this round of nomination. She has been unfairly judged. Plus, the other housemates have deep pockets. We can only try our best."
With everything that Dionne has experienced inside the house, Mommy Dulce still wants her to stay, "so she could prove to everyone that she is more than what they perceive her to be though I miss her so much.
Aileen, on the other hand, thinks differently. "A part of me wants her to come home to us so we could protect her again. But another part of me wants her to stay. We cannot just give up because people misjudged her. Bad things don''t last. And the lessons she will learn from this experience are invaluable."
Whatever the outcome of the Third Eviction Night, Dionne is assured of her family''s love and support.
As her mom aptly puts it, "I miss you anak, nothing and no one will ever change my love for you."
