Third album with bonus play-along CD now available in stores
When "Noypi" and "Hallelujah" were released as singles from the award-winning albums AS THE MUSIC PLAYS and LIGHTPEACELOVE, both were more than a blip on the modern rockradar… 2007 could probably be another year for Bamboo to repeat the same process.
Bamboo unleashes its latest offering with a new album called WE STAND ALONE TOGETHER, the album that will certainly blow you away with another album of pure rock experience of throwaway covers. Bamboo marks their first covers album revisiting power tracks from the 60's onward. Latest album WE STAND ALONE TOGETHER is now available in stores.
The first dose and new hit single is called "Tatsulok" which is now dominantly occupying the local radio charts. "Tatsulok" was originally popularized by the underground band "Buklod" and composed by Rom Dongeto. This social commentary was dedicated for the Filipino activists in the 80s. Watch out for the new single's video (directed by Pancho Esguerra) as it unravels the message of the song as an overview to the Philippines' social pyramid.
Other OPM remakes also include the 2nd Metro Manila Pop Music Festival winner in 1979, "Umagang Kay Ganda" composed by Butch Monserrat and another classic Pinoy rock "Probinsyana" written by Alex Cruz and Edmon Fortuno of the band Anak Bayan.
Borrowed from the most celebrated artists of all generations, remakes of Paul Simon's "50 Ways To Leave A Lover" sounded a distinctive Bamboo-esque flavor; highlighted by its uplifting instrumentals and chorus, Bamboo also covers the fictitious song "Alive" which was penned and originally sung by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam; classic of seventies singer-songwriter pop, arranged for the band at intermediate standard for piano with guitar chord boxes of "So Far Away" originally recorded by Carole King; Bamboo's creative breakthrough came shining with "Feelin' Alright" written by Dave Mason of one of the truly great bands of the late 60s/early 70s; a soulful-rock-remake of "Prayer For The Dying," an inspirational hit sung by Seal.
This album will surely go to places that most never reached. Bamboo, the band led by vocalist Bamboo Mañalac, guitarist Ira Cruz, bass guitarist Nathan Azarcon and drummer Vic Mercado, has successfully toured the country and across the globe including the US, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Bahrain and others-serving eclectic set lists featuring early and latter tracks from two award-winning albums.
Bamboo's debut album AS THE MUSIC PLAYS was released in February 2004. Led by the anthemic single, "Noypi" (a slang term meaning "Filipino"), AS THE MUSIC PLAYS was certified double platinum and became the biggest selling album by a group in the Philippines for 2004.
Bamboo's second album, LIGHT PEACE LOVE was released in June 2005 and immediately attained platinum status in January 2006. The album boasts ten songs of differing moods and subjects. From the nationalistic "Hallelujah" to the soulful "Much Has Been Said," all the way to the social commentary of "Alpha Beta Omega," Bamboo has certainly taken a huge step forward. April 2006, Bamboo also released Light Peace Love SEA International Version comprising tracks from both albums.
And as the band enjoys their ride with another rollicking collection, WE STAND ALONE TOGETHER is now available in stores released by EMI Phils. Best of all, "Tatsulok" could be the kind of throw down that could become an anthemic keepsake for summer 2007. This special album also comes with a play-along CD which you can jam with Bamboo, Ira, Nathan and Vic and share your expertise as if you're part of the band.
