Ogie Alcasid's gang and gags
September 30, 2006 | 12:00am
M.Lhuillier Philippines' premier endorser and multi-media artist, Ogie Alcasid, will once again serenade Cebuanos on October 7 at the New Cebu Coliseum. Last year's concert was purely a showcase of his ballads. This time, the concert dubbed as KOMI-KONSYERTO, is expected to draw a real big crowd twice over from last year's audience because of its unique showcase of songs and gags to give people of all ages a good laugh and entertainment at its best. Ogie's full-packed "Komi-Konsyerto" concert last August 5 at Aliw Theater in Manila received excellent reviews from the entertainment critics and the audience as well.
Famous for his "odes to love," Ogie has produced and written numerous love songs and hits such as Pangako Sa 'Yo, Mahal Kita Walang Iba, Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang, Kailangan Kita, Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka, among others. A musical genius, he has years of experience as a singer and songwriter. He also has a string of great performers singing his compositions. Talents like Regine Velasquez and Gary V. have more than once sung his songs.
According to him, among the songs he wrote, Listen To My World, is the crappiest, Kung Mawawala Ka, the most intense, and Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka, the sweetest. Mahal Kita Walang Iba is one of the many songs he wrote for a girl when he was a teenager. "My favorite is Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka because it's like you have no other dream but to love that certain person," he muses.
After receiving an array of platinum awards and accolades from the music industry, the most recent of which is the 2006 Entertainer of the Year and Best Major Concert (Male) at the 19th Aliw Awards. Another feather to his cap is the Most Popular Male Recording Artist, his third, from the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Awards.
But on the 7th of October, it will not only be Ogie who will be treating us with his ballads. He will be bringing along his so-called gang led by the Master of Disguise Michael V. Ogie is equally funny with his comical stunts and spoofs. Michael V, on the other hand, has a singing ability that has added even greater variety to his comedic oeuvre, making possible the inclusion of musical comedy, song spoofs, humorous translation of lyrics, etcetera!
Both share the wisdom of laughter, as they seem to click very well considering the chemistry they imbued in delivering comical skits. Watch them bring the house down with guests like heartthrob Wendell Ramos, the sexy Francine Prieto, the funny and good-looking Antonio Aquitania and the equally funny and talented Budoy & the Junior Kilat band. Newcomer Lovi will also be there, as well as the Maneuvers who will provide the dancing and choreography.
Produced by M.Lhuillier Philippines, "Komi-Konsyerto's" proceeds will benefit the Cebu City Task Force on Street Children.
