Arielle Kebbel: Wave aafter wave
September 3, 2006 | 12:00am
After conquering the waves in the teen hit comedy "Aquamarine," Arielle Kebbel stars anew in another teen comedy "John Tucker Must Die" where she plays Carrie who conspires with three other girls against her unfaithful boyfriend (played by Jesse Metcalfe).
From a string of feature films over the past few years which include "The Brothers," "Soul Plane," "Be Cool," the independent horror picture "Reeker," "Dirty Deeds," and "The Kid & I," Kebbel gamely talks of her character as the vengeful wannabe journalist-girlfriend in "John Tucker Must Die."
Q:Have you ever been like the girls in this movie?
A:Fortunately, I haven't the chance to do so but my fantasies came alive in this movie. I haven't planned on anything evil like we did in the movie.
Q: What do you think when people tell you, you look like Britney Spears back when she used to look good?
A: I come from Winter Park, Florida which is right by Orlando, so when I was getting into the business and Britney was popular, I think that I was never mistaken for her but I was similar enough that maybe I was one of them. I got very used to people asking for my autograph. But that was more back in Florida, not here.
Q: Who do you play in 'The Grudge II'?
A: Alison. She's the nerdy wallflower. She's very smart, studies at the international high school. She's a good-hearted girl but she doesn't have friends, so she's really shy and quiet and insecure. I have long, black hair and big, black, bushy eyebrows, and I'm not aware that you're supposed to wear your school uniform above your knees.
Q: What's a positive way for a guy to get your attention?
A: Tell a joke. Or dance. I'm a huge fan - I don't even care if you can dance or not, if you're willing to put yourself out there and have a good time. And I love smart humor.
Apart from her film works, she also acted in the made-for-DVD sequel, "American Pie: Band Camp." On television, Kebbel has had recurring roles on such series as "Gilmore Girls" and "Grounded For Life," and has appeared in episodes of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Judging Amy, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Entourage," "Clubhouse," and "CSI: Miami." She will soon be seen in the indie features "Outlaw Trail" and "Daydreamer," along with the upcoming horror sequel "The Grudge 2."
JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE opens very soon this September from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.
