Jennylyn Mercado, GMA-7 Starstruck's first female ultimate survivor, came to town recently to launch her second album entitled "Letting Go" at SM Entertainment Plaza last Friday, August 18, 2006.
The whole event was full of fun, exciting games, autograph signing. Of course, Jennylyn serenaded Cebuanos with her songs, some of which she penned herself. For the benefit of those who don't know, Jennylyn's family and relatives are from Cebu. That's why Jennylyn has a soft spot for Cebu and Cebuanos.
"Letting Go" is all about the many faces of one's emotions, particularly the feelings that go with love. It is also about letting go of past heartaches and frustrations caused by a failed relationship. And it also means letting go of that special someone we once loved, and finally take upon ourselves to move on with our lives.
The carrier single of the album is a revival song entitled "The Art of Letting Go," which is actually the same song Jennylyn wants to dedicate to her ex-boyfriend, Mark Herras. "It's like, forget about it, you have to move on," Jennylyn explained to The Freeman Entertainment.
Jennylyn maintained that she has truly moved on and has learned to let go of any special feelings for Mark. For now, she has redirected her energies, focus and passion on her career, not to mention, has opted to stay single. Jennylyn happily added, "For now, wala po munang boyfriend. Puro career po muna. Wala po munang ganyan."
Jennylyn has an original composition in the said album entitled, "Pangako." The song, she explained, speaks about a lifelong promise of loving someone until the end. Likewise, hit-making composers like Vehnee Saturno have also contributed some compositions to the album.
Jennylyn proudly shared about her upcoming romantic drama flick under Regal Films with Mark Herras and tandem of Iza Calzado and Dingdong Dantes entitled "Eternity." The film promises a story about everlasting love. She also has a primetime TV show, "I Luv NY," (but soon wrapping up) at GMA-7.
Amid her ever-busy life, education has found its way on top of Jennylyn's priority list. For the young star, there's definitely no letting go on this one. "I'm continuing my studies and I'm finishing my fourth year in high school. Hindi kasi habang buhay artista ako o nandito ako sa showbiz. I like to have a business on my own at maging stable," Jennylyn enthused.
