Aga & Charlene: Twin delights
June 18, 2006 | 12:00am
It was just like yesterday when celebrity couple Aga Muhlach and Charlene announced that they were expecting twins during their wedding in Baguio. Now their twin bundles of joy are five years old. When it comes to features, Andres takes after Aga, and Atasha after Charlene. Atasha likes storytelling in school, while Andres is a very neat boy. He puts his toys into a plastic bag when he's through playing with them.
Why is the Philippine Movie Press Club reluctant to reveal the producer of the 22nd Star Awards For Movies? But does it really matter? It's an open secret that the show is being produced by the husband of SS, an actress. I'm told the husband is a very private person and is not comfortable in the public limelight.
The Star Awards is on for June 30 at the Grand Ballroom of the Philippine Plaza. It will also be shown on Studio 23 at 10:30 PM. Boy Abunda and Ruffa Gutierrez are the hosts and Anne Curtis is the anchor. Ruffa returned home just for the awards night. The word is going around that Ruffa will be wearing a $17,000 gown for the show. Now that's what I call grand!
Aga and Charlene Muhlach have no plans for the moment to have another kid. The couple had really planned to have just two children, so when the twins Atasha and Andres came along, they sort of filled the quota. The twins are now five years old. It was just like yesterday when Aga announced that Charlene was pregnant during their wedding in Baguio.
I had the chance to look at the twins close up when I visited the farm of Aga and Charlene in Mataas na Kahoy in Batangas. Atasha was rather shy and refused to have her photo taken. But when Aga called her, she became very animated and friendly. Charlene says Atasha likes storytelling in school.
Andres, on the other hand, likes to play with his toys. And he's a very neat boy. He puts his toys into a plastic bag when he's through playing with them.
Mom and dad regulate the rice intake of the twins to keep them from getting overweight. If ever they eat rice, it is of the brown variety, which is more nutritious.
The twins also do not have a craving for chocolates. Even when someone gave them imported chocolates at ABS-CBN, Andres hardly touched them. When it comes to features, Andres takes after Aga, and Atasha after Charlene. There have been many offers to make the twins commercial models, but Aga and Charlene carefully screen them before deciding to give them a go.
Remember Jimboy Salazar, the former lover of the midget actress, Mahal?
He's suing Star Records, ABS-CBN's recording company and its managing director Annabelle Regalado for P1.6 million for breach of contract.
Jimboy claims that since signing a deal with Star Records in 2005, he has cut only one song. He says that he's supposed to record a minimum number of songs and if Star Records failed to record that number, the company will pay him an equivalent to the advance on royalties which would have been paid to him had the songs been recorded. The company also failed to provide the necessary promotional support such as interviews, TV and radio guestings, mall and campus tours and press conferences.
He says he complained to the management of Star Records but they ignored him.
The contract, however, did not specify how many songs he was required to record.
Jimbo says that because he is bound by the contract, he could not sign with other recording companies or perform for commercial release.
I wonder why he signed the contract if it did not specify how many songs he is to record. Did he read the document thoroughly and in its entirety?
Heather Mills McCartney, the estranged wife of ex-Beatle Paul McCartney, is suing a British newspaper that reported she was a prostitute who took part in lesbian and group sex.
Mills is taking exception to a report in the News of the World that she was paid thousands of pounds for sex with wealthy Arabs while in her twenties. The 38-year-old charity campaigner and former model is in the middle of divorce proceedings. She lost her left leg in a 1993 road accident, and has a 2-year-old daughter named Beatrice with Sir Paul. They were married for four years.
The divorce could be profitable for Mills. Before they wed, McCartney rejected Mills' offer of a pre-nuptial agreement to protect his estimated 825 million pound ($1.57 billion) fortune in case they parted ways. Her heart may be broken but she could be at least 200 million pounds richer.
Forbes magazine lists Tom Cruise as the most powerful celebrity in the world. Cruise raked in $67 million from the "War of the Worlds" and "Mission Impossible 3," and is still the top star in Hollywood, the magazine said.
Forbes based its list on income between June 2005 and June 2006, on the number of hits each received on Google Internet searches, mentions in the press, television and radio as well as the number of cover photos in 26 major US magazines.
Coming in second is the Rolling Stones and Oprah Winfrey, third. In fourth place are the Irish rockers U2. Top golfer Tiger Woods, is fifth. "The Da Vinci Code" author Dan Brown came in 10th.
