MYMP hotter than ever

There's no denying that the acoustic duo MYMP (otherwise known as Make Your Momma Proud) is already a hot commodity these days. Their songs are dominating the airwaves. Their gigs are left and right.
MYMP, which is composed of Juris Fernadez (vocals) and Chin Alcantara (guitars/vocals), visited Cebu last April 1 for the Globe G-Cash sponsored concert at the Ayala Center Cebu parking lot.
In show business, intrigue becomes every celebrity's middle name.
Take for instance the case of this double act, they can't keep the people from asking why they continue on doing cover songs or milk on the old ones when they, being composers themselves, can actually create and perform their own brand of music.
Chin, who also happens to be the group's composer-arranger, explained that they are "not good songwriters." And even if they were, Chin admitted to the Cebu media during a press conference at Café Laguna hours before their concert, it is their record label that decides what songs to include in their albums. And since their audiences are buying their songs such as Tell Me Where It Hurts, Especially, among many others, he added that their label wants them to do more what their public is craving for. Chin, however, defended that their versions are what actually most people like.
"But hopefully our label allows us to make originals," Chin said.
However, he said there are still one or two of their compositions that have gotten into their album.
Meanwhile, Juris denied reports that she is set to leave her band. She disclosed that there are many offers for her to go solo but, according to her, she will "stick with the group."
Her spoken loyalty actually made Chin smile. Chin, on the other hand, was forced to admit of having a relationship with their manager (a Cebuana by the way) which, he said, could be the very reason why no one wanted to go solo as of yet.
Later that night, the two, with their other band mates, rocked the Ayala Parking lot with their songs as thousands of their fans did not just sit and watch them perform but sang with them as well.
