Star-studded

FREETALK - FREETALK By Olive Victor B. Amoroso -
The Monday "invasion" in Manila

The cast of the Kapuso Network's newest Asianovela, Frog Prince, arrived last October 10, which was also the Chinovela's pilot date. The stars of Taiwan's hottest and reportedly the No.1 Chinovela Joe Chen, Ming Dao, Sam Wang, and Joyce Zhao came to Manila with the Taiwanese boy band 183 Club.

Joe Chen, now a familiar face and name in Philippine television, is already well-loved by Pinoys. Joe had been to the country several times already to promote the Señorita Mei Mei and Twin Sisters (100% Señorita). She also appeared in several scenes in Sugo, where she was paired with the "sugo" himself Richard Gutierrez.

In Frog Prince, Joe plays the lively, witty and strong-willed Charlene, who dreams of marrying a rich man - the "guy" who is not so different from the "prince" in her favorite fairy tale, "The Frog Prince."

Joe's leading man in Frog Prince, Ming Dao, is a "bonafide heartthrob" - based on the standards of my editor, Nathalie. I'm sure Ming will definitely make Chinovela fans swoon while watching him in the series.

GMA also reportedly acquired another drama series in which Ming also stars. His Pinoy fans will surely see more of Ming on TV. In Frog Prince, Ming plays Ronald, the general manager and the son of the owner of a hotel. Because of his "attitude," many people dislike him. Will love be able to transform such an obnoxious man?

On the other hand, Sam Wang has also been to the country several times already, as a member of the boy band 5566. In Frog Prince he plays Willy, who is Ronald's complete opposite. Another member of 183 Club, Johnny Yan, has also been to the country a number of times, one of which was to promote Snow Angel. Other members of 183 Club (which was called such because it is composed of six-footers or guys whose height are 183 centimeters) are Ming, Jacky, and Ehlo.

GMA is definitely maximizing these Chinovela stars as they are expected to appear in several GMA-7 shows including Bahay Mo Ba 'To?, Bitoy's Funniest Videos, Lagot Ka, Isusumbong Kita, Eat Bulaga, SIS, and Nuts Entertainment, Startalk, S-Files, Unang Hirit and the news programs of GMA. The "star-studded" weekend in Davao

I was in Davao with the national (composed of Crispina Belen, Manila Bulletin; Jerry Donato, Philippine Star; Isah Red, Manila Standard Today; Marinel Cruz, Philippine Daily Inquirer; Salve Asis, Pang Masa; Ian Fariñas, People's Tonite; and Eugene Asis, People's Journal) and regional media when the News & Public Affairs personalities and ETV stars of the Kapuso Network flew down south last Saturday and Sunday as part of the Kapusong Dabawenyo Weekend.

From the gang of the country's only concert TV "SOP" to the telefantasya stars - the Kapuso Network's brightest and hottest stars took the time off from their busy schedule in Manila to join their fans in the SM City grounds and acknowledge the Dabawenyos unwavering support through the years.

According to Network insiders, the Serbisyong Totoo Day gathered 25,000 people while the Grand Fans' Day booth area was jampacked with 35,000 Dabawenyo fans.

Aside from the live performances of SOP and SOP gigsters, the Dabawenyo fans witnessed the formal introduction/launch of the new local entertainment program "Kuyaw!" - Davao's Fiesta TV.
